Question Are The Replacement Badges Any Better?

So last night I was washing my truck and noticed I have been hit with the black paint coming off the fender badges issue. I was a little surprised by this because, as many of you may know, my truck is, should I say, babied?

Being a "garage queen" with only 1400 miles on the odometer since new, this was probably only the third or fourth time its been washed -- each time a hand wash with Meguiar's Gold Class and hand dried.

So my question for the guys who have replaced these badges for the same issue, are the new badges we get from Ford any better in this regard?

My new ones held up pretty good for a while, but now the paint is starting to chip again.

I had one replaced when the truck was bought in 06'. The replacement has gone through two winters and numerous washings up here in Vermont and is still holding up.

That has to be the lowest mileage 05 I've heard of. Dealer lots sometimes have that much just from test drives

Yes, it's certainly lived a pampered existence!

Let's see:

- It's never been driven in the rain -- only driven on nice days with no threat of rain.
- When it's washed, it more because it's dusty, rather than because it's dirty.
- The mileage I put on it will likely be cut in half now that I have the Mustang.

I washed mine with my 3000 psi pressure washer... took of the paint to my truck, but not those emblems...

Are you using sandpaper to wash your truck?

More posts than miles on the truck. That's pretty impressive!

Won't do me any good -- the plan is to leave the truck and the Mustang to my son once I head off to the happy hunting grounds. Now watch the little SOB sells the thing the second my casket hits the bottom of the hole!

Note to self: Warn the little guy in advance that if he does that, I'll be waiting for him outside the "Pearly Gates" with a frown and a baseball bat!

I've been thinking of replacing mine also since they are peeling really bad.I thought of trying to repaint them myself but I figured it would look like crap.
