Interested in HID headlights and fogs
Hey everyone. I'm a new user who just recently purchased an FX4. I was browsing around and searching other threads about HID lights and there are ALOT. I know there are many out there but I figured this might be the best and easiest way to find out the info I was looking for.
I am interested in purchasing some HID lights for my headlights and fogs.
What are some of the more popular setups you guys have seen or used?
Which bulb sizes for the head / fog?
Any links to websites would be greatly appreciated.
Once again, sorry for posting something that is all over the place.
Thanks!

the seller most people go with is HID4u on ebay.
the bulbs you need are h13 for the headlights and 9145 (or 9005)for the fog lights.
when choosing a bulb color (anywhere from 4300k-10000k) stick to 6000k and lower. that will end up as a really bright white with a tint of blue.
the higher you go up in kelvin (the k in 6000k) the more blueish it gets. 8000 is pretty blue. 10000 is really blue. and 12000-15000 is almost purple. when you get that high on the kelvin scale you gain more color but you lose more usable light. stick with 6000k and below and you cant go wrong

Thanks for the quick response pal.
I was looking at 12000k but like you said you lose some valuable sight.
I'm assuming the H13 bulb is for lowbean? Is it called bi-xenon if you have HID high/low beams?
Also, for the fogs you mentioned the 9145 (or 9005). Are they the same? Or is the 9145 a newer model?
Sorry for so many questions! But I really do appreciate the quick response. Take care.

yea stay away from 12000k. yea they look pretty but you wont be able to see ****. sorta like putting a black light in your headlights.
the h13 is a dual beam bulb. when you order the bixenon kit for the truck it comes with one bulb. that bulb does both high and low.
for your fog lights 9145 is a fog light bulb and 9005 is a high beam bulb. i dont think this matters with HIDs but i would stick with 9145 since thats stock. the are the same bulb but with halogen bulbs they 9005s put out more light. it wont matter with HIDs they will both put out a ton of light

9145 halogen bulbs are the stock bulb size that come in the fogs. People put in 9005 size bulbs since a 9005 halogen bulb puts out a lot more light. This is because the 9005s are high beam bulbs, which just happen to fit (the bulb may need minor modification) in the fogs.
As NoLongerJeepin said, because HIDs in general are so bright, there wouldn't be a real need to choose a 9005 bulb instead of 9145 bulb because they are both bright. So, it would just be easier to get a 9145 HID bulb since it would fit right in, as opposed to a 9005 bulb, which may or may not require some modification.
Hope that makes sense.

I read where people ran into issues....with round fog lights getting to hot. They say the rectangular ones should be good. I have been running them in my rectangular ones for a while now without any issues.
Thanks again for all of the help guys.
I'm not the best mechanical person so when I order I'll just get the 9145 bulbs, lol.
To those who have installed these, is it rather straight forward?

I have the h13 HID's but I didnt get the bi xenon kit so I lost my high beams. There are two types of h13's that let you keep your high beams. One type has a solenoid that actually moves the bulb up for high beam. The other type is a true bi xenon and is more expensive. Thats the one I'm going to get. I dont like that I lost my high beams.
