2005 tailgate..
Help!! tell me i'm not crazy when the current body style f150 came out was there not a big dal made about an assist on the tailgate to make it easier to lift? what was that called? reason being i had my tailgate stolen and the cant seem to find any part number or description for such a thing?i remember seeing a round piece that protruded form the bottom tailgate and went into the bed am i crazy???? any help appreciated

They do have an assist but I can't remember what it is exactly. Try lifting a tailgate without one
I felt spoiled when I moved to the 04 because my 03 didn't have the assist and I had to put some good force on it to close the gate
The assist is a nice feature. Just one of those things that makes me happy with the 04

rburtonrmx, this isn't what you're talking about, but you can get one of these on e-bay for ~$50...
Doesn't help with lifting it, but it makes dropping the tail gate nice.
