Just put mine on this past weekend, bought it off ebay for $500. Unfortunately, looks like it's not the G2 version as it has the shocks instead of lock rods, but it does have the D-rings up front. I ran the drain tube through the hole in the stake pocket, out the other side next to the outside of the outer bed wall. Kind of a tight fit, have to work at it a little, but kept from having to drill into the black plugs in the front of the bed. Still waiting on a good hard rain to see how waterproof the bed is now. Drove 70+ yesterday with it folded up against the window, looking in the mirrors couldn't see it move at all. Extremely happy with it so far!

Upon further review...

Well, I checked the rails on the truck to see what I needed to make. After holding the rails up I couldn't imagine needing spacers to level the rails, they looked fine. CHecking the rails closer, I noticed a permanent full length spacer already installed on the upper edge on the rail. Looks like maybe they made a recent change and haven't done any install instruction updates..

Long story short, I got it installed this AM. Fit fine and looks great. Piece of cake install.

I haven't run the drain tubes yet, but as I look at it, it would seem to me that the only time you'd get water into the rails is if the cover is open. If the cover is open I'm not too worried about water getting into the bed. I'm just going to leave the tubes off for now and see how it goes.

Thanks to all for the inputs!
Bob P.

How long did they take to send the shims? I really want to install mine today .

Any ideas what else I could use in place of the factory shims they forgot to include.

Other then that the cover looks to be great quality.

I never did hear back from BAK, but also didn't push the issue as it turned out I didn't need them. Have you tried the rails on the truck to see if they are needed? Mine had spacers already in the rails, full length. They looked to be about 1/8 in thick. maybe less.

I do need to figure out a drain tube mod. I really don't want to drill the plugs.

Good Luck!

Do a 90' and put drain them through the stake pockets.

get it already. i was on the fence for a few months as well. mine just came in a few days ago and im loving it. just wish i had it during snowboard season man i sliced up the interior with those boards because i didnt have security in the bed at the time. best part, if rolling it all the way back STILL doesnt satisfy you, you can remove the cover by only removed 2 (hand tightened) star bolts in a few minutes. piece of cake. plus its light weight around 30-40 lbs so one person can handle it by themselves. in my opinion REALLY worth it

How is it going for you? I just got my cover today and haven't installed it yet, but I REALLY don't want to drill my liner or through the bed.

I installed one on my father-in-laws 08 about 1.5 months ago and did not install the tubes. So far no leaks

I installed mine about 6 weeks ago. Picked it up on ebay for $500 delivered to the door. The box had been opened, but it was brand new.

I love this one. It is super easy to use (my pregnant wife can even do it) and looks great. The installation was very easy (if you have a second set of hands. My pregnant wife was able to help no problem.)

I did end up running the drain tubes behind my bed rug, and did drill through the drain plugs. The bed rug is obivously flexible enough to allow that, and I would recommend that approach if possible. I found that I was getting some leaking without them installed (becuase my bed rug was smelling really musty.) However, after installing them, I haven't had that problem.

I was on the fence about it for awhile as well, but have been very happy with the purchase.
