Boneheads! That's something they should have checked before they sold it. I'd push to get the $50 knocked off. Just for the inconvenience.

Are they sitting in racks or on the floor? something about sitting on the floor drains a battery no matter what kind $150 is a deal?

For that price I could get 15 years using Motorcraft, Interstate or even Delco and Die hard. I have 3 1/2 years on my original battery, still going strong. Just did a load test on it last week and found no problems. I can't imagine paying more than 50-60 bucks on a battery.

Our local farm supply has the yellow top for our trucks for $134. I was looking at them when I was there buying a new battery charger 2 weeks ago. They also carry the red tops, but I forget what the exact price was, but I think it was in the $110-115.

I worked at Advance Auto Part for awhile during college and it was very common to find the Optimas to be dead or very low that were sitting on the shelves. I think they just don't move off of the shelves quick enough so the just loose charge sitting there. We would probably sale 1 optima for every 20 or more regular batteries.

That applies to batteries made some time ago. Now they don't have that problem and is considered a old wives tale.

it still holds true...although it probably isn't as prevalent as 10 years ago.

I still think Optima batteries are overly hyped. I ran a winch, fog lights, 2 110 watt KC's, headlights and radio at the same time when 4x4 on my old Interstate batttery. it held up just fine with 0 issues.

I personally do also, unless you are useing them in a offroad vehicle for their shock resistance and no spill design. On our plow trucks, 93 Jeep Wrangler and 89 Chevy 2500, we have stock size alt. and stock size batterys and we have never had any problems with the batterys going out or life being shortened. And running a plow and aux lights is alot more strain on the charging systems than 99% of the other vehicles on the road will see, including those with aftermarket stereos and light set-ups.

Just my $.02.
