custom fiberglass console 2.0 build up
haha yeah finals are over rated but sadly I gotta do them, and like sundevil travis said I go to asu for mechanical engineering, in my cad class I have to make a cake mixer, designing it all myself, with all the motors and gears inside. Ive done all that trade school stuff already( welding mig and tig, machining, metal shaping with English wheels andstuff like that and so on.... )
Wow, sounds like you got one hella of a education under your belt. Good deal
English wheel ?? Where'd you learn to play with one of them old school tools ? Thought that was a dead art. Thats awesome bud !
And the Cake Mixer, although pretty fruity, its not something you have taken apart a million times, makes ya learn something. I dont know, but i think thats where the teach maybe comin from.... although still odd
Alright, need another cold one

We had to do an electric leaf blower, all internals and everything. I might even still have the file floating around somewhere... Did you actually model the teeth for the gears, or just use a circle? I couldn't really tell from the vid.
You have any plans for after graduation yet?

Ive got SolidWorks in my office but I'm still using AutoCad. I cant seem to navigate solidworks to save my life. it looks like a nice program but i have no formal education in drafting...learned AutoCAd by reading a book when i was like 14.
That's kinda how I learned AC, although I never use it. 99% of my CAD work is done in MicroStation now. I just use SW for at home projects.

SolidWorks is really for 3D stuff only. I've got a couple of tutorials at home I can send if you ever have the desire to mess around with SW. It's a great program for Mechanical Engineers, not so much for Civil though.

and as for the tutorials just do the online tutorials found on the help section on sw and you will learn alot
and yeah no teeth, i know im still a noob at this stuff
haha only a few hard days left of school then ill get back to it
Did they change much in the '06 or '07 versions? It's way too expensive for me to buy, so I'll guess I'll stick with my copy of 2005.

well i bought some resin the other day because i relized i had $75 gift card to autozone and they usually have fiberglass stuff so i went there and to my surprise they had it by the gallon i was expecting the small containers, so i got a gallon and some mat............i hate mat but since this goes on the inside and i dont have to finish it, it isnt so bad

Everyone hates us around here.
We just hired a new designer/CAD guy and he's been on Autocad for 11 years. There's quite a learning curve with Microstation.
