Did you have any concern with mounting the air tank behind the front bumper? I'm pretty sure thats a crumple zone... I'd be worried about reducing the excellent safety of our trucks.

Did you try mounting the air tank on the sides of the truck, just behind the cab? An air horn is on my list of mods, and I was hoping to mount my air tank back there.

I have one on my truck, it was from siege engineering on ebay. I got one with the compressor and tank being like together, and its kind of a POS, I would get a good compressor and then tank separate from each other.

I mounted my tank onto my rear hitch with U bolts, and mounted my horn where the spare tire is. I don't have a 35 inch spare, so it was doing me no good back there anyway.

I have a switch to turn on the tank in the cab, and a momentary button to activate the air valve for the horns. Both only work with ignition on so the battery can not drain, just in case I left the switch in the wrong position, but it has an LED lit when its on.

Took a while to get it all wired up how I wanted, but I love it now. Have stock horn, and a train horn, and can use either when appropriate.

Here are some pics:

(This is for the horn, the switch for air compressor is down near the parking brake area, its kind of hidden and out of the way. It sits on top of my brake controller. )

At first i was worried, but i dont keep it filled all the time. i didnt want to mount anything in the bed and behind the front had a ton of space. the tank is pretty big so space was limted

What seems to be the biggest problem your set up or with your compressor unit ? I am currently looking at the same set up from siege on ebay and figured a one piece unit would be easier to mount and hook up than the two piece units. Does it actually sound like the video clip on their site ?

Hope I just didn't waste my hard earned money on a POS.

I found these horns the other day somehow. They are cheap and put out 160psi, which is more than any other kit I've seen.

I was driving to the beach when these kids were being weird waving extaticly at every car that passed them. I guess they were just trying to be smart. Well any way as soon as I was about 20ft from them I lit them up with my horns. They stopped waving and looked like they needed a change of shorts.

btw I got triple omega horns with a one gallon tank. Wired up on a rocker switch so I can go from factory horn to train still using the horn pad.

I just think the small compressor on the side of the tank could be a little bit bigger. It takes about 3 or so minutes for mine to fill up to 150psi. (I upgraded my pressure switch on mine from 120 off/90 on, to a 150off/120on.)

I have had them pretty close to a year now, and the compressor has given me no trouble and it fills the tank up every time, it just takes kind of a long time.

Edit- The sound is close to what is on the video, maybe just a tad not as loud. It definitely gets other peoples attention. And they sound like a train horn, but are not nearly as loud as one. So if you want authentic train horn loudness, which I don't really think is a good idea, I would get actual train horns off of a train if you can find some.
