Bought a new 2008 Lariat 4x4 Crew- Needs some advice!
So I purchased a new 2008 Lariat 4x4 a couple of days ago. I got it with with black leather interior and the 40/20/40 bench seat up front instead of the captains chairs with center console (I like the extra leg room and seat better). I traded in my old 2004 STX 4x4 Supercab for it, and I'm realy happy with it so far. I need some opinions on a couple of things though.....
1.) I want to have it lifted up a bit and a set of 35" BF Goodrich tires put on. The guy at the shop here recommended using a leveling kit.... 3" up front, and 1" in the rear, to raise it up. I'm wondering if using a leveling kit is such a wise idea on a new truck instead of a standard lift kit. Any advice?
2.) I have an Edge programmer left over from my last truck. Will it work on this new one? And if not, how will I adjust my speed for the new tire size I'll have?
Thanks in advance for any advice you guys can provide! Pics are soon to follow!

1- congrats on the new ride
2-I would recommend an actual lift over leveling kit-front leveling kit is nothing more than a spacer (correct me if im wrong) for the coils and if there is to much lift it screws up angles on the CVs or whatever is they are called and in future will ruin them and now you have to replace
3-sorry I dont think i can be much help with the tuner-you may want to call the company you got the tuner from and ask them, but I think the edge can be used in differant trucks if it isnt custom tuned

Congrats on the new truck!!!
1-If you are going to be going out 4Xing with the new truck then I would go with a actual lift kit since it will give you better suspension geometry which equals more flex and wheel travel. But if you are just looking for a way to put 35's on and the truck is going to see very limited if any off road use then you can go with a leveling kit. Some people say that leveling kits will eat ball joints, yet others have had kits on for over 70,000 miles without any problems at all.
If you do go with a leveling kit I would suggest one from the Auto Spring Corp. With either the 2" or 2.5" you car clear 35's, on most trucks the 2" kit makes them sit level and 2.5" makes them slightly nose high. Auto Sping also makes a block kit for the rear so that you can raise the rear if you want.
I personally have the 2.5" kit up front with Firestone air bags in the rear inflated to 20psi to raise the rear 1" and also firm up the rear alittle so that it rides more like a truck. I have had the AS kit in for about 2 years, only 10,000 miles though.
2-Yes you can use your Edge on the new truck, but if I were you I would call Edge with the HEX code off your truck to see if your trucks computer is supported by the software version that you truck has. If its not, you will have to down load the newest one off of Edge's website.

If you do use the edge, grab some custom tunes from Bill. They will be a lot better for your brand new truck than the canned ones that the programmer holds.
Also, do not get a leveling kit. grab a 4" lift kit. Leveling kit will stress your front suspension.

I am putting a 2.5" AS up front and blocks in the rear, I know it will fit 35's if using factory wheels. I know it is better to do a full suspension lift bu that costs 10x's as much and dont want to be that high up
