looks awesome.. but im still a little confused as to why you equip your personal vehicle.. are you a LT or just voll. or what.. and do run calls even when not on duty.. as in, do you just scan that radio band and if you hear a call close by, or something like that, you run the call also, or what.. i would like to get some more info on this.. thanks man.. take care

I am a rescue tech, firefighter, and EMT. If I am in the area and we pop a call I usually go to assist if I am closer than other units. Also at the end of the month I will be on Bexar County (San Antonio, TX) WMD team.

Does this clarify it a bit better? If not PM me and we can go more in depth

Interesting. I'd go with a fender off position to keep you safe when entering in and out of the vehicle. Whats your goal? Get hired as a professional in SA area?

i see.. so when you decide to run the call also, do you radio in, or do you just show up.. talk to whos in charge or if you are first on scene, do what you can..

i like the idea of havin all that for emergencies.. and i guess being certified fire/emt that gives you rights to running emergency signals.. what about any kind of whelen(horn/siren)

thanks for the help too.. im going through a recruit/hiring program right now wiht orange county(orlando) florida.. just tryin to get as much info as i can

Ouch!

Nice job on the install - Those lights are warning enough, let alone on an F150!

Scott,
Professional? Um, who says I am not a professional firefighter. If you mean career firefighter, then no. I make more money and enjoy my network security job

I usually radio in and advise that I am en-route to said location. With that being said, I don't sit at home and wait for a call to jump into my truck and go tearing down the highway. The only time I will leave my house for a call is for a Haz-Mat, WMD, rescue, or large structure fire. I do that because at this point, specialized personnel need to make location as they have extensive training in emergencies such as those that I have listed.

Good luck man in Orlando!
