4.6 with 33's

Anybody here running 33's on their 4.6 truck? I have an 07 ext cab 4.6 I'm thinking about putting some tires on. How bad of a performance hit was it? The only towing I will be doing is pulling a couple motorcycles, hopefully the added tire weight/height wouldn't affect it too bad.

I am running 33's on my 07 with a 4.6. I recently had 4.10 gears and a tuner installed because the truck was a dog. It would move okay, but it wasn't fun. I had the 3.55 gears and they just didn't work great.

Its a dog stock, but aslong as it gets me where I'm goin and can tow a couple bikes I'm not too worried.

I have the 4.6 with 35" tires. There was a loss of power, but not something that would make me regret what i did. Next mod is some lockers and 4.88's.

Yeah it will get you there. It got annoying though because even on the highway with just me in it the truck had trouble staying in overdrive on even the slightest hill. If you don't have a tuner that should help you big time.

Thanks for the replies. I am probably going to give the 1.5 level and 33's a shot on the stock rims. If I end up hating it, its not too big of an investment.

A tuner is probably on the horizon, trying to dig up other simple performance mods for the 4.6, doesn't seem to be much available.

I might try out the Troyer Electric Fans in the future. Not sure if it would be worth it or not. Do you have any experience with electric fans?

Only experience I have is putting them on classic cars. I'm putting in a large stereo and have a HO alt to install (which will be a HP hit i'm sure) so installing something that takes more electricity to drive might not be in my best interest.

I will have to look them up and see what their amperage draw is and do some thinking. They are expensive is all I know so far.

Too bad nobody has made a blower for our little motor trucks.

Its tough because I usually wouldn't care about speed, but all the talk about other trucks pushing 400hp, etc.. makes me want mine to run faster. After the gears and tuner I am much more happy.

I'm cool with going slow, just sucks not having the power to pull a hill in OD or having issues towing. Thats all I'm concerned about. Not trying to make a race truck, just don't want a turd either

Thanks again guys
