Question-Did you instal your leveling kit or did you pay?

When I order my wheels (305/55/20 nitto's) Im going to need to get a leveling kit. Im thinking most likely the 1.5" so I have a tiny bit of rake.

I talked to my local ford dealership and they said they would instal one for $400 which includes the kit and alignment. There is NO WAY I want to pay that much but I don't know if I will be able to instal it myself...what do you think I should do?

Did you guys pay or do it yourself?

I installed mine myself and then took it in and had it aligned under warranty.

I had a local mechanic (small town one man shop, but he does good work) install mine, he charged $140 including alignment. I wanted to do it myself, but I was swamped with work at the time and wanted the kit on since I had the wheels and tires sitting in the garage. I do wish that I did it myself, since I do like to turn a wrench every now and then but it was also nice just to have to write a check and driveway.

If you have the time and the common tools to do it, I would say go for it!!

Did it myself. I didn't have air tools when i did it and it wasn't that hard even on a 04. Hardest part is convincing myself to whack the spindle hard to knock the ball joints loose. So I would recommend getting a pickle fork or rent one from autozone.

Is that $400 for labor & parts? Or $400 for labor only?

In either case, unless you are properly equipped, and have sufficient knowledge, I do not recommend tearing your suspension strut apart by yourself.

I had mine installed. 4WheelParts.com has an outlet local to me.

I took my truck in for the 30K service. My service rep (read as my mother-in-laws boyfriend) wanted to see what the spacers looked like. I went to pick up the truck and he had installed them for me.

Did it myself and 4 other sets since then. Easy to do with just hand tools. (Autospring type that doesn't require a spring compressor). Paid $45 for alignment at the Ford Dealer.

I just ordered the 1.5" kit. Hope to have it on this weekend. A friend of my brother's is going to do it. I'll probably toss him $50 or so.

PICKLE FORK!!!????? Yea if you want to tear up the rubber seal on your ball joint! Do it right and use a pitman arm puller they are like $20 at advance auto. That is the safest way to do it
