I'm in Vegas and only pay $145 a month on a Lariat 4x4 5.4l and I'm 26. I have had no tickets or accidents so that must be the reason for the higher insurance. As for gas mileage I average a little better than 15mpg and I drive both city and highway mixed.

I like it! Atleast you didnt get into a chevy.. or even worse.. a DODGE!

My insurance is only $81 per month, full coverage on my truck.

I'm looking to move into a house soon and when I do, the truck is Bye Bye. I'm gonna get into a Mustang GT. My daily driver right now is a Ford Focus.. the insurance on it is $140 for 6 months..LOL

haha funny you say dodge.... I was dead set on the dodge charger, until i drove the Edge.... might still look at a charger couple years down the road if they have it still... but I like the edge and the deal was just too good to pass up cause i was getting out of the truck... The salesman was kinda surprised how fast I cleaned out the truck haha... "damn your quick, no remorse huh? here's the keys."

Edge

In addition to my F150, I own a 2007 Ford Edge SEL Plus, black. It's my wife's. I was against it entirely until I drove it...I'm actually really impressed with it. I'm a big guy, but I'm really comfortable in it. It drives nice and smooth, is quiet, and feels very solid...has plenty of creature comforts. It definitely has a modern look and feel, but I kinda like that. We drive it on the longer trips and leave my F150 in the driveway, so I've cruised it quite a bit. It's quick, responsive...I like it. I drove a customer's new Lexus SUV today, and quite honestly...like our Edge better. We've had it since June and not a moment's trouble. I think Ford has a winner here, my personal opinion. It does not, however, get stellar fuel mileage. That 16-18 quote above is dead on. It's not bad, but it's not real awesome either. We've tinted the windows and that's it on the Edge...but I do want to put these wheels on her in the Spring.

All of that said, I think you have a good vehicle there...BUT...that chunk of change you put down to buy your way out of the F150 would have probably bought your insurance and a chunk of your fuel for the next year.

Oh and PimpRohr if you read this, thanks so much for the advice on suggesting reading a few books by Dave Ramsey, this was the first step for me... "sell the car"... but with the extra money i will start saving I hope to hit the first baby step of getting a $1000 emergency fund... I actually got all his CD's and am listening to them in the new car
That sounds like some smart moves. I hope the edge helps you save the money and get your financial life on track. Having a kid, you have to have stability over all. I've wasted a ton of money buying and trading new vehicles. I hope I am over that for a while.

Take good care of that edge and drive the wheels off of the thing. Once its paid for, you cant be upside down any more and if something major breaks, just think of it as a short-term car payment.

My gas bill on my truck alone is about $700-$800 every month too. Shell loves me cause it's always shell gas. Luckily for me, my work pays for every penny including a nice truck allowance. I just have to cover repair & maintenance. Not bad for me I don't think. Much better situation than the Dodge 1500 4 door 2wd (brand new too) they offered me. I would rather drive my truck any day.

Grats on the EDGE...they are very nice vehicles. DAMN they are smooth! The leather seats in those things are outrageously comfortable too. I was "seat hopping" at the international auto show and I went from a $147,000 Mercedes to the EDGE and I honestly thought they felt exactly the same (seats and leather). Talk about bang for your buck with the EDGE!

In fact, my next vehicle will be a loaded to the gills charcoal EDGE SEL on stock chrome 20s....give it a year or two, once the Ecoboost is on the EDGE I will be pimpin' that sucker

You're gonna love your Edge...

I do..

We got the Edge SEL Plus, minus only the Panoramic roof (Not avail in 2007 w/DVD system), AWD, and Navigation.

We got the roof racks (had to have those- just for the look), Audiofile system (really nice), leather, and a partridge in a pear tree.

Absolutely love it. It's the finest Ford I've ever had the pleasure of riding in. Made me not miss my MDX as much as I thought I would.

Welcome to the Edge Family D.

Gas here is running $3.00/gal if your lucky, and I drive 150 miles per day (65 to/rom work, 20 various). In a 06 SCab 5.4L 27gal tank, I get about 300 miles before filling up, meaning I fill up every 2-3 days.

30 days/month filling up every 2.5 days = 12 fills @ about $65 per fill means I spend $780 per month on gas........dang glad that its a company truck!

Looks good! My wife is picking up her 2008 AWD Edge Limited with navigation, panoramic vista roof, and 20" chrome rims tonight. I love that sync system that they put in them. And she got black, so now our vehicles match!

Well... here she is... and no unfortunately it isn't a super duty... maybe when my financial situation is better I can step up to one... but this little lady fits me just right... Now if I could just squeeze some 35's under there...lol
