Drive it more...

Wow....I guess I need to start driving my truck more often. I opened the oil fill cap to change the oil and there was enough moisture on the underside of the cap that it flowed off in a quick stream instead of dripping off. I haven't been driving it much at all, maybe once or twice on the weekend and not back and forth to work anymore. I'm going on a 500 mile trip (one way) in it though this Thursday (to D.C.). That'll clean it out I noticed also that the underside is starting to rust a little - like the bolts on the oil pan and things like that. The aluminum on the engine is getting splothcy white patches too. Time to drive! I don't have a garage so unfortunately it's sitting outside in the elements on a gravel driveway...bad

Me too... Since I've been on break, I've only driven my truck a whopping 87.1 miles and it's been like 3 1/2 weeks!

For 3 weeks mine never even moved, had a door opened, or was even touch for that matter, although it was sitting in the garage. Now that the holidays are done the truck is probably going to sit that same way for a long time, since I drive my work truck during the week or when the it snows and we use the Focus for running on the weekends. It sometimes makes me wonder why I even have the truck, since there is $25000 just sitting there doing nothing, other than going down in value. I can't wait for summer to get here to actually use the truck on a regular (every weekend) basis.

If I didn't go to college... mine would just sit in the garage too... cause I'd drive my parent's cars...

So far I hijacked their car and put like 1,400 miles on it in like 3 weeks.

But I do all the maintainance, pay for gas, etc. Why do I drive it?! 32 mpg, that's why.

Mine's been sitting a lot too. I actually had to drive it today though - 8" of new snow and needed 4x4 to get to the store.

I hear ya too, mine sits untouched for 3 or 4 months sometimes when I am away working. Though I do really enjoy it and lay on the miles when I get a chance to.

I hear ya'. I've had mine since last February, and there's still under 4000 miles on it. It's been sitting since Wednesday, but tomorrow I make the 6 mile trip to work again....

Sometimes I feel like mine is a waste too. I only drive it on weekends. Right now with a 4 month old, its only short trips. I made a couple of 2 hour drives within the last 6 months. Need to take a 5 hour ride to houston.

Its also one of the reasons I dont mod my truck much. I have the bug, but I dont drive it enough to justify getting any enjoyment out of the mods. I have a company vehicle which allows me to afford the F150, however it would be nice to actually drive it more. Since I am not racing, I very rarely need a truck. However, it is so much more comfortable than my wife's pilot purely because of leg room.

Mine is a daily driver I usually put about 400 to 500 miles on a week depending on my travel schedule. hllon4whls I will agree with you on it being more comfortable to travel in.

If you do not drive your F-150 much, and you love your vehicle, consider yourself lucky. I bought a 06 Lariat in June of 06. Until last month, I had only 12,600 miles on the truck. I now drive it for work, and it has 18,700 miles on it. I figure if I have to keep this rate up, by this year in 2009, I will have 45,000 miles on my truck.
But it ain't gonna happen. I am currently driving my truck for my work. Tomorrow I go in and give them the ulti. Either give me a company truck, or suck wind, and hire another idiot!
