Farewell

With having to commute much farther for my new job, I traded in my F150 for a much more fuel efficient 2008 Escape. I hated to let my truck go, but I just couldn't afford the gas cost with the amount of traveling that I will be doing. Maybe when I sell my house and find a new one closer, I'll think about getting another F150 (when the new/updated models come out).
I'll still be around to see all the mods you are all doing, so I won't be completely gone.

A friend once told me....

The money you lose on a trade-in will pay for gas for the next ten years.

Trading for gas mileage does not make sense.

Hmmm... Good luck with the 'Scape...

I had one that was VERY unreliable. The transmission will last like 50k max. I'd recommend doing a transflush like every 15k.... even then, out of the blue it could just die.

Also the fuel efficiency of the Escape isn't really all that it's cracked up to be, unless you get the Hybrid...

We have the 08 escape hybrid 4x4. It claims 30 mpg avg(hwy). So far we have averaged 29 mpg in it(both city AND hwy combined). Excellent vehicle, you should be fine for commuting. Good luck, and stick around.

But I was just getting here! I posted a similar "good-bye" thread in a Dakota forum I frequented. While not all responses were unfavorable, they weren't as nice as the ones here. Point? Ford drivers are apparently much more civil than Dodge owners!

Seriously, good luck with the Escape..

congrats on the new ride.

I know a few people with Escapes and they just love them. They can't say a bad thing about them.

My Bro-in-law commutes with his 100 miles each way and is pleased with the mileage. I honestly don't know what he gets but he is quite happy with it.

Congrats on the new Ford. My wife's Explorer goes into the shop today for a blinking Check Engine Light and I am just sure it will be the transmission. She is thinking about maybe trading for a new Edge. Better fuel mileage seems to be the flavor of the week!

So whats the true mileage on the Escape? My screw 4x4 gets 15-18. Does the Escape get low mid 20s?
