'DOOR AJAR' light stays on . .

Anyone know why the 'DOOR AJAR' light stays on despite all doors are firmly shut when driving? Could it have something to do with the cold weather ?

TIA

try oiling the latches on the door, it was a very very common problem on the 97-03 bodystyle.

The switches are cheap. If you are taking the door panels off just change the damn things. Why do the job twice! TascaParts.com has them for $5.92 each on the Driver's side and $7.51 each for the passenger side. Crew cabs have one switch per door. Super cabs only have them in the front doors.

My old Ranger used to do this, as well as my '02. Design flaw in the switches, IMO. It will happen again, so why replace them if you can just grease them for a temporary bandaid.

inside the door frame.

look down to where the black rod connects the door to the door frame. This is the black rod that is connected to the door but slides in and out of the frame. Squirt WD40 inside there for the easy fix.
