FORD really has no choice with our 5.4 3v's!

I think Ford needs to come up with a happy middle ground, or a whole new engine. Changing spark plugs shouldn't have to be hit or miss. Routine maint. should be considered more, as part of the design process.

wasn't in one of the last threads that a member on here that has inside knowledge said that sometime after the first of the year Ford is bring out a redesigned plug but couldn't mention details cause it is still confidential information until it is released to the public. Anyway this is a an issue any average joe knows a plug change should be easy and not cost out the *** to do. however my plan is to keep using shell 93oct(with my tunes) and have the dealer change the plugs about 30k-40k miles until I get rid of the truck. With any luck I will not have any break. Second option is to have the dealer change the plugs then immediately change them my self to the Brisk plug and not have to worry about it. Either way I'm not going to loose alot of sleep over this. But when it's time to buy a new truck trust me I'm going to do some research to see of there is anything like this happening

If one breaks, its an old truck and stuff happens. They will whine then just pay to have it fixed. Ford will never do a recall on plugs or the cylinder heads; with a published procedure to follow to change plugs, they have their tails covered to avoid any kind of large scale lawsuit.
Also, with all those who have posted here about plugs breaking, I have never seen any real data that realistically shows what percentage of plugs break during a change, especially when following the TSB. I imagine the true percentage is quite small.

It has gone from a routine spark plug change, to a potential nightmare. I just got done changing the spark plugs/tune up on my dad's 99 Blazer 4.3L rock solid reliable/easy to work on. What happened to the good old days. Hell I'd buy a new Mustang if they threw in a decent motor instead of the junk 5.4 3V. I actually had a new GM diesel owner ask when they started putting diesels in the F150's because my 5.4 3V valvetrain is so loud he mistaked it for a diesel.
If you want easy get a 4.2l v6.
