Cloth Interior Owners???

I was test sitting some new trucks the other day and I always thought I would really really want leather in a new one this time. Pretty, heated, etc, etc. But they had an FX4 with cloth and as soon as I sat down in it, it felt to me like the seats "sat" much better than the leather ones. Just fit my butt and back better. Really comfortable. I know it's all a personal preference thing, but still.

Did any of you guys go with cloth interior for the same reason...you actually liked it better?? Or do most of you go with cloth just for the monetary reasons?? If cost was the same would you still go with cloth??

I'm on my second 150 with cloth and they both have held up EXTREMELY well over all the years and miles. Where a leather seat would most definately crack and split on the drivers side from getting in and out, my cloth ones have remaind spotless and rip, tear, stain, blemish free.

Just curious what you guys thought??

I bought an XLT because I did not want leather. I have purchased lots of vehicles over the years and have preferred cloth on every one. Of course, all my Mustangs have or had vinyl, and I hated it.

I have gone with cloth in the past because I lived in the south. Hop in a vehicle with vinyl or leather that's been sitting in the Texas sun in August while wearing shorts and you'll figure it out really quickly.

My truck I just purchased is used an had cloth...it was a good deal and in the color I wanted so I didn't pay too much attention to the seat material. I will say though, that there are some stains on the seats that won't come out. This stain resistant material is just that, resisitant. I wouldn't opt for cloth seats on an F150 thinking that they'll be great against stains. The stains aren't bad but I usually take care of my seats and they bother me having them there so I'll probably be looking for covers in the next year.

Crack & split???????????

Why would one wash and wax and periodically clay bar their vehicles' finish? To maintain it so that it holds up throughout the years.

Same goes for leather. I owned my prior 2000 Lariat since brand new till the day I traded it in on my current Lariat (~ 15 months ago). My 2000's leather looked just as good when I traded it in as the day I purchased it. A simple, PERIODIC application of leather conditioner will go a LONG way.

Leather won't stain like cloth nor does leather hold hair (i have 2 Dobermans) like cloth will. Those are MY reasons for preferring leather over cloth, that and it's worth more if you ever sell/trade your truck.

You only get leather seating surfaces for the front two chairs anyway.

The rest is all vinyl, including the entire back seat. If you want leather, I'd go aftermarket. Find a source with REAL leather for the whole area of ALL the seats in the truck. All the way or nothing at all.

I have owned 2 '04MY+ F-150's with cloth and one with leather. I prefer the "leather" myself.

2004 XLT w/ Cloth & 2006 FX4 w/ Leather.

I perfer the leather and love it so much more than the cloth. The leather lets me slide into my seat and get nice and comfortable. It doesn't stain and doesn't get too hot or cold in the summer or winter months like most of you complain about.

I wanted cloth as I find it more comfortable when it is very hot or very cold. It also seems to be wearing very well. I have the FX4 flint gray and it stains easily however.

Where i live it gets above 100 degrees in the summer and you can imagine the kinda of burn you would get from leather. One thing to to think about is that cloth is alot easier to maintain and a lot less expensive to keep looking brand new.

I swore I would never own a vehicle with leather seats, untill I seen a FX4 sitting on the lot with shinny new black leather. I changed my mind pretty quick and order my truck with the leather and have loved it since.

I have had a full bottle of Gatorade empty on my seats, and it just rolled off onto the carpet. Carpet is a little stained but its black and the red gatorade doesnt show to much, but if it would have ended up on cloth seats things would have been alot worse.

So I think they paid for theirselves right there!

another vote for the leather

i have cloth in my 05 XLT and i swear it seems like pure water stains the cloth. owning a lawncare business and constantly sitting in the cloth with sweat, water, gatorade, and beer when im done, does nothing to help out my attempts to keep it clean. about one a week i get out there with some oxyclean or other interior cleaner and scrub the stains. also if you spot clean, you will end up with a water ring around where you were cleaning, so in order to clean one little spot you have to clean the whole pannel.

i had leather in an 03 expy, and it was great even in florida. i did have tinted windows so it didnt get near as hot as it could have.

get the leather and have your windows tinted...its is that time of year...:santa:

just my .02

The girls never want to get out of my truck because the seats are so comfortable. I get compliments on it all of the time With my FX4, the cloth seats are great! I really like them a lot more than I thought I would. They really make those long rides to the track go pretty quick. I don't have to shuffle around because my butt or back is killing me. I can just drive without the worry of my back killing me before I even get on the bike to ride for the day.
