I've had people calling dibs on my couch and floor for several months now for St. Pats. Last year, I remember that there were 6 people sleeping in my room We were woken up by a guy who walked in with a pint of cheap vodka in one hand and a half gallon of OJ in the other hand, drinking them both at the same time.

I am getting the front fixed. I made two claims: 1 comprehensive for the deer, and No. 2 Uninsured motorist for the drunk woman hitting the front. I figured, hey, I don't mind lending the insurance company $250 to put a world of hurt on that beyotch.

Tony out.

It's wild how no matter where you go, you ether run into someone who either went to UMR, or someone tells you a story about their third cousin twice removed who knew a guy's friend who's aunt's husband went to UMR. You know, that guy who tells you how it used to be called Missouri School of "Minds". I ran into that guy in San Diego. But someone's always at least heard of it.

I know exactly what you mean. Don't you know all the great "Minds" went to MSM/UMR.

Now the name is changing to Missouri S&T. I HATE that...what was wrong with UMR?

Someone needs to updated for my 2.5 AS...

Missouri Institute of Science and Technology. I guess the chancellor convinced enough people that the school should be conveyed more as a research institute than a university that, if you have heard of it, you know it's an engineering school.

Well, it was the Missouri School of Mines & Metallurgy for almost 90 years (1871-1964), then University of Missouri at Rolla for about 4 (1964-1968), the University of Missouri-Rolla for about 40 (1968-2007) - wonder how long this name's gonna last?

Even the alumni association has given up - was 'MSM-UMR', now going to be changed to 'Miner' - 'cause at least the mascot won't be changing, unless the politically correct (corrupt?) start whining about the 'violent' image of a dirty old man carrying around a gun, a pick-ax, and what must be a rocket-launcher. :-)~ These will probably be the kids of the same clowns that got ol' Joe Miner removed from the vehicle registration stickers way back when I was there.

*sigh* sorry to see the name 'Rolla' taken out - that's the name people recognized. It serves as a great automatic 'in' when meeting new acquaintances familiar with the school's reputation.

The "Rolla" part is what really stood out to people. They knew exactly what it was when you said that. As an alum, I voted against the name change, but little good that did.

What do you do with a degree from a school that no longer exists?

So I never did post the status of the repairs. They're done now, of course. The damage was $4,700 to fix the deer damage. They replaced the front quarter panel, the driver side door (minus glas, trim, etc), the sheet metal on the outside of the rear door, and the bed side - plus some trim like the bed rail and such. The picture below is what my truck looks like with no panels, doors, or bed.

Speaking of replacing the door, the manufacture sticker on the side of the door was gone. I asked them if i could at least have it off the old door. They were able to remove it and re-apply it to the new door with only little damage. I think there are two "v"s missing from peeling it off. (if you peel that sticker off, the word "void" stays on the old surface, so the sticker says void across it a bunch of times, sort of like the pink stickers you get when you return something to walmart.)

As for the drunk woman damage, they replaced the front bumper and painted the hood and the trim along the top of the bumper. That cost $2,500 and the insurance still hasn't recovered the damages from her, so I'm out my $250 deductible.

She's been back to normal since shortly after last Thanksgiving. Just thought I'd post an update on the status of repairs even though it's been so long.

why do you need to replace the window? is it scratched? judging from the dent in your door, it's just tweaked and will work fine once the dent is pounded out
There are two bucks playing around on my street all the time. If I hit one, I'm not giving it away.... (Whatcom County)

Well Texas is where I am at and it doesn't get anymore "un-hippy" than here and we are not allowed to keep the deer either. Thats probably because everyone out of here would just hunt them out of season and then say they ran them over.

I almost hit a dear weekly where I am at. They are everywhere. My girlfriend feeds them off my back porch.

when did that change? between my dad and I, we've totalled 3 cars/trucks in Central Texas (Belton/Temple/Killeen area). called the local DNR guys and they said to keep it. granted, that was 10-15 yrs ago

try not to nail a Bull. those f'rs usually fall on the hood and make an ungodly mess. about 99% chance the vehicle is totalled

Woof! I'm sure that sucks, but surely it's not any worse, or maybe not as bad, as hitting an moose.
