Dealer broke 4 spark plugs!

Finally decided to risk the tune up. I have 150,000 on my 2004 FX4. They broke 4 straight before I called for a progress report and had them stop. I should have left well enough alone.
So when I go to pay they tell me they really didnt want to do it! Well thanks trying anyway guys!!!
The lesson here is DO NOT attempt to change spark plugs after 100K. Heck with it.

Ugh - tough situation - I can already see that Ford's official response is that you waited too long so it can't possibly be a poor design POS issue.

Sorry about your luck bud. People are going to blame you here, be prepared. I feel for anyone who has had this problem. In my opinion, the bottom line is Ford is at fault for the anti-seize issues, I didn't find out until 70k miles or so and now I'm saving up because I do not have the tools to perform the porcelin stuck in head process, it's a flippin spark plug change! At least Toyota is taking care of their own :[

I've never had to save up so much money for a spark plug change. I feel for those who are keeping their trucks till 200k, who knows what else they find out Ford forgot to do at the factory.

Amen! This is the number one reason that I traded my 04 F150 for a model with no spark plugs! Even though I never tried to change them, I really didn't want to have problems down the road. Once the word gets out about the sparkplugs in these trucks (I mean out to the general public, not just to F150 owners) it will negatively affect the resale value.

There are far more people who have had NO PROBLEMS with changing plugs compared to those who have had problems.

What is the average cost of getting spark plugs changed at the dealership? Also, I'm not sure if I read one of these guys posts correctly, but are they actually charging the customer for the removal of the broken spark plugs that they(dealership) are breaking?

Yes, and most are also charging about $450 for the sparkplug change as well. They know that they are going to break so they are charging twice the normal rate to cover their a$$e$.

It depends on what they have to do to remove it. Ford has made a tool to remove the chunk left inside the head. If the piece can be removed using that tool, then the head does not need to be pulled. if it can't, then you are paying about $1500 to have the heads pulled.

Yay, cuz we all love headjobs, like this guy. 250.00 was the quote, Ill end up paying closer to 1,000 for my truck to run again. I ve been looking at Dodges, F250s, etc. Im gonna pick it up monday and go to the used lot next door and try to trade for a newer year or something else.

Id love a 2500/250, or a newer F150 but Ill never be able to get all the options I have and I just spet a TON of money putting a leveling kit, hitch, trailerbrake controller, etc on and dont wanna waste all that. Plus I doubt Ill be able to afford higher payments.

I had no problem removing my spark plugs. Is was the DEALER who borke 4 at 34,000 miles while changing cam phasers and lifters under warranty. So I hope I am ok until I need to change them again at 100,000+ miles. I hope to drive this rig to 150 to 200,000 but I dunno.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who realizes this .. It's the same on all internet forums, someone reads something and it spreads like a plague. No one considers any other fact but there is something wrong.
