Raced a CrewMax tundra

This post is going to be kinda long becuase it has our conversation in it. So here it goes.

I am driving to my home town and about 5 miles out this truck pulls out in front of me and I go to pass him when it changes to 2 lanes I get past him and im doing about 80 so I let off, and look in my mirror well here he comes so I floor it and we take it to about 90 with him passing me. He then moves over and lets me around him becuase it has gone back to 1 lane so I pass him and give him a thumbs up out the window. We pull into my home town and it changes to 2 lane, he is still behind me so I kick it out of OD and roll my windows down. I slow down to about 20 and he passes me instead of slowing also, I speed up and just as I am getting next to him he kicks his blinker on to turn into walmart, so I just blip the throttle and give him another thumbs up as I pass him and pull up to the red light. I look over and he pulls up next to me him and his buddy are staring at me and angrely ask

HIM "Did you flip me off or give me a thumbs up?" ME " I gave you a thumbs up that is a fast truck you have there." HIM "Ya it runs good" ME "What do you have done?" HiM " Its stock I picked it up 2 weeks ago, what do you have?" ME " Exhaust, Tuner, And fans" HIM " Ya you have the 5.4 its only got 300 HP This is a 5.7 it has like 385." ME " Ya I know you have a lot more power, do you want to do it from a stop?" HIM " YA"

So I am thinking I am about to get roasted. So I kick OD off again and get ready, the light changes to green and we both nail it. I spin for about 5 feet and hook, so does he. I start pulling on him at about 25 his bumper is at my door, at 40 his bumper is at my bed and at 70 his bumper is just behind my back bumper. So I let off and start slowing back down to ask if he wants to go again, he just keeps slowing down and wont get back up next to me. I am laughing my butt off at this point so I just give him a thumbs up out the window and head to the house.

I could not belive that I beat him much less that bad, I was preparing to congragulate a Tundra on smoking me at the next light, thank God I didn't have to. I am on cloud 9 right now I can't belive it.

I've got a sticker on my tailgate that says "I'd rather push my" over the Ford badge and "Than drive a Tundra" underneath it.

Nice Kill. I've seen them run faster than the F150 at the drag strip but the street seems to level the playing field.

He's a bigass crewmax, you're a 2wd supercab with several key mods, I believe it. Great kill, he's obviously insecure if he had to act hard about a possible thumbs up!

Good run, but dont get too overconfident. My dad has a reg. cab 2wd Tundra with the 5.7 and they are running low 14s stock. With exhaust and intake one guy on the Tundra forums ran a 13.94. No offense, but not exactly lightly modded supercab f150 territory.

Id guesstimate the guy didnt have his traction control etc. turned off as even the crewmax's are putting down sub 15 1/4s.

Is your truck modded or tuned?

I don't like to admit this, but did race my a-hole's neighbor and his new Crewcab 4x4 Tundra with my FX4 Screw. Both trucks are stock.

I lost by a mile, and the bastard kept hitting his brakes when he got far enough away to let me catch up, then he would gun it again. Not fun.

This is why I don't put myself in those situations. I know what I've got and I know I can't win, so why embarrass myself. There's been a couple times I've had a Tundra pull next to me at a light and the guy signals he wants to race. I caused the one guy to get a ticket. We were in an area that the cops like to set up speed traps. There's a bend that hides them from view until you're up to speed and on the radar. Tundra wanted to go, I said sure, I knew the trap was there because I had just driven the opposite way 20 minutes earlier. He stomps it, I get to the speed limit and stay there. Tundra hits the bend at around 20-30 KPH over and gets busted, I drive by, blow the horn and .

you need an intake, these 3v motors really respond to breather mods

A legitimate concern. Don't worry though, they way those guys are driving their 5.7's by 50-60K they're going to be oil burning mosquito foggers.

I'm calling BS on that claim. Mustang GT's run High 13-Low 14's stock. No way a 5k lb truck can do the same.

Anyways, who cares if the Toyota is faster. If you want speed, buy a sportscar, not a full-size truck.

Man, this is a tired argument. If our trucks had that power, we would be looking down on everybody else just the same.
