Painted mirrors and handles this weekend

Got tired of the faded plasctic on my mirrors. I took them off and disassembled them. Sanded them smooth, primed with Duplicolor Filler Primer, wet sanded with 600 Grit then painted and clear coated with Duplicolor paints. Very happy with the results, looks much better. Repainted the door handles since I wasn't happy with my last attempt. Painted the cowl as well about a month ago. I think all together it was about $25 in materials and a little bit of work. Also re-painted the center dash and doors with Metalllic paint. Hated the woodgrain and got tired of the carbon fiber tape. We'll see how it all looks in a year!

That looks sweet! And you did this all with duplicolor in a rattle can. How did you get the paint to match so well??? Or is it a good from far, far from good kinda thing?

This is the Arizona Beige Duplicolor paint. Up close it's not as smooth and it doesn't have the depth that a real paint job has. And the color is slightly off but it is nice and smooth. Still messing with a spare handle, if I get it better I'll redo everything. Keeps me out of trouble LOL.

Up close you can tell it's different but overall you can't. I think it looks great for what you did.

Everything looks wonderful Keith. How long did it take you to sand down the parts? It's been a while! How are you.

What's up Josiah. Not much going on here except work.

Didn't take too long. I removed them, sanded and primed in about 5 hours. Took about 10-12 hours total from removal to replacement.

On the practice one I did it wasn't bad. It took some force to scratch it with a finger nail. I have a broken door handle that I practiced on to try to get the best finish I could with a rattle can.

Very Nice! That's how they should be from Ford IMO.

What primer did you use? Are you concerned about chipping without adding some sort of flex agent?
