Cool Got my truck back from the dealer.

So I had to spend one whole day without my truck, probably the longest day of my life

Brought it in because I had a leak on the passenger side somewhere. Tech told me he'd call me when they finish. While I was down there I also wrote down on the paper (they were closed when I dropped it off) that my transmission had lag when I tried to pass people on the highway (hoping they would re-flash it to a newer program).

So around 4pm got the phone call my truck was ready. They pin-pointed the leak and resealed everything, AND they re-flashed the computer.

Went down to pick it up, and right as I started it I could tell something was different... it started with more of a roar . Took it on the highway and sure enough there is absolutely NO LAG when the truck tries to down shift now!

To cap it off, everything they did was covered under warranty with a complimentary multi-point inspection. Very happy with these guys (Drum Hill Ford, Chelmsford MA)

Always nice to hear a good Dealer Service story. Chelmsford Ma. huh?
Lets see, that's only 2986.1 miles from me, according to Yahoo maps will only take me 43 hrs. 22 minutes to get there.

Yeah, but with the crappy, incompetent dealers we have in So Cal, it may well be worth it!

Start driving!

I really was impressed. I have read here that a lot of people had trouble getting the dealer to re-flash the PCM with the newer program (Having to state it was a safety issue, ect.), but all I wrote down was that there was lag in the down shift on the highway.

Sucks I should have had them fix the annoying yoke problem where it feels like a thump in the driveline under light acceleration in traffic. Maybe next time =p

I had the lag problem as well. The dealer reflashed mine and what a difference. Felt like a different truck. Check out these links I found. Print them out and take them to the dealer.

Page 2 of article:

The technicians also made a welcomed adjustment: Because of a noticeable throttle-response lag, they reprogrammed the PCM. The upgrade breathed new life into an engine/trans combo that some had previously described as abysmal and "not having much poop left for passing."

I believe if you disconnect the battery for a period of time the adaptive strategy stored in the PCM will be erased, therefore making the PCM have to relearn your driving style and the truck will feel much more responsive.

I will have to make a trip to the dealer soon as I have a bit of a lag sometimes to see if the reflash will help before I have 36k on the truck.
