Maybe...

Is it possible there is a ball-type pivot for the brake pedal? Are either of your trucks a standard shift, maybe a clutch pedal pivot?

My first thought was the seat-track also.

ha... I was thinking the same thing... someone must be shooting at them...

seriously though - in ManualF150's picture the ball bearing is not shiny. Was it that way when you found it? If was being used as a ball bearing and rotating back and forth it would most likely be shiny due to the constant rubbing.

As for the seat theory - I'm 99% sure that you would never see a ball bearing that large in the seat sliders. And I doubt they use any size bearings... its probably just a greased track.

unfortunately thats all I have to say... I really can't think of a logical location that a large ball bearing could fall from.

Do you guys live in the same area??? Maybe someone is going around dropping ball bearings through open windows to confuse the hell out of people... hmmmm... that would be a pretty good joke...

I have an automatic and am in Wisconsin, ManualF150 is in New York and maybe he drives a manual. Mine is not a lead ball, it is hard. Mine is shiny while his looks more dull in the picture. The puzzle continues.

Mine rolled out on the drivers side... so it was near my left heel too.

I have no clue... if Quintin doesn't know, then no one knows...

I find it kind of odd that it makes 2 of us.

It was shiny until I had my hands on it, and from it sitting out in my garage it oxidized a bit. However, it is not as shiney as the way I found it. Mind you, I found this think like 4 months ago, so it was exposed after I touched it with dirty hands.

Seats

Let's try something else:

Do you both have a power seat or manual?

Mine appeared about a month ago and it has been it the ashtray ever since and is still as shiny as I found it. I have manual seats but I have the brake pedal height adjustment. Just stopped at the dealer and they have no Idea. The tilt wheel is manual and seems to work ok.

I can't wait to see how it turns out either, because I have no clue. And the other one in a similar place on the floor in another truck half way across the country. I may be crazy but I don't think I am nuts. I have been out with a flashlight for the last hour looking under the dash and seats with no findings.

Have you had any dash rattles disappear in the last few weeks? The guys on the assembly line probably threw those in behind the dash as a practical joke to drive whoever bought it crazy.

No mysterious dash rattles. I was having trouble with the ash tray slide sticking but couldn't see where a boulder like this could be used in there. I read the recent thread on the ash tray spring and will have to look at it closer to see if the spring is messed up.

damn... now I'm hoping I find a ball bearing... I have a dash rattle that keeps coming back. I had it in to the dealer several times while under warranty and they couldn't fix it for any extended amounts of time

ha... perhaps we should be comparing build times and plants???
