Changing wheels? Worth it?

Hey guys, do you think changing to an alloy wheel, will be worth it to cut down weight? to help with a better track time?

No. Unless you really think 25 lbs is really going to make a difference. If you want less weight... just take off the tailgate or something.

I was told the other day that every 100lbs lost, gains about 1/10th of a second. Could just be fartn' in the wind too though.

What I do is take off my 20" wheels and put on my factory 18" wheels when I go to the drag strip. My 20s are 83 lbs and my 18s are 65 lbs per wheel.

Looking at the size of your wheels and tires, I wouldn't waste my time going to the drag strip with those. You might want to get a cheap set for drag racing.

This is a generally accepted rule of thumb and I believe it to be correct. They are speaking of vehicle weight, not rotational or unsprung weight.

If you're worried about track times, take the lift off, go to stock or lighter tires and wheels for a start.......

You do have a beautiful truck though.
