Is changing the ATF as easy on this transmission as it was on with 4R70W? I used to just drop the pan, change the filter and fill it back up. Anything different? Do you still re-use the gasket. Any other drain points I should know about? I want to use Royal Purple ATF on this truck. Any recommendations, tips, etc... Thanks!
I forgot to mention I have a 2004 4.6 F150 with auto transmission and 38,000 miles.

Thats a good read and some good information on labeling. Thanks. I used Mercon V on my 2001 truck when I did the change. I dont see any purpose in spending the extra money on RP. Its still way expensive!
just droping the pan off will not get all the old tf out change the filter while its off.

The dealer just did mine with Mercon V. Just changing the pan fluid will leave the older crud in the lines, defeating the whole purpose. Better just to get it flushed and be done with it for a couple years.

any little mechanic shop can flush the tranny. Some oil change shops have the equipment. I recomend just getting it flushed the first time and second pull the pan and change the filters. dropping the pan only drains about 4 quarts. Your torque converter holds alot more.
