Hi

i have a 2007 F150 with the 5.4. when you give it a good amount of throttle, the motor just drops all power then picks it back up...any ideas what it could be?

 

Have you ever used injector or fuel system cleaner ? What about air filter or fuel filter ? Lots of variables here. What about MAF cleaning;what about throttle body cleaning ?

 

The drive by wire system will give a power drop if the throttle is opened too quickly, this is to prevent damage caused by over revving. How does it perform if you ease the throttle down? If you haven't changed the fuel filter for awhile that could be part of it, but I believe it's PCM related.

 

You're experiencing the hesitation that Ford has somehow built into its throttle by wire system, and has been unwilling or unable to correct. My 05 FX4 does it, and the dealer reflash of the PCM didn't help. The Ford Tech, who went with me for the test ride, said he installed an aftermarket tuner in his truck and it pretty much solved the problem. So you're either going to live with it, like me, or spend 400 bucks for a tuner. You gotta love it.

 

the truck only has about 5ooo miles on it. so it doubt its fuel filter etc. i would say im experinceing the drive by wire syndrom. I am getting an edge evolution anyways so that will cure the problem. sounds good to me

the truck works fine unless you get on it fairly good.
