I found the problem...

Apparently the problem is the lower ball joint. I don't think that my driving habits caused it, I haven't gone offroad in quite a while, must be age or the big tires. I've been calling around and I've gotten prices from $160-230. For replacement and alignment of the lower ball joint. Is that pretty decent? My upa boot has a tear in but it isn't seperating like the lower ball joint. Should I get some aftermarket control arms or just a new stocker? The guy said that I should get the lower one replaced since it is a lot worse so I was going to do that one and the uca next month, or so. Any thoughts?

I have been wanting UCAs for awhile now I just cant get myself to buy them after I just put stock new uppers on with my lift. Maybe when it is time for my next aligment I will get them. As for the lowers I put moogs greasable ones in they were 55 each and then I rented a installer kit I did it when I did my lift and it wasnt too hard but then again my front end was already tore down. Also when greasing them I guess I put to much in or somthing because it came though the boot now every time i grease them it just comes out the boot so I put some black RVT over the place where it comes from. After a lot of reading moogs are crap and from what ive read MANY places ford factory are the best or as good as the best ball joints out there. So here soon I think i am going to put stock back in the lowers and maybe aftermarket uppers. (after my truck bank builds back up, I just got fox rezzys for the rear pics soon)

besides the fact that aftermarket uca's are beefier is the joint better on that or on a stock uca? Should I replace all 4 joints instead of just the half?

Aftermarket ball joint is better because it is a stainless uniball. The only problem might be a little more noise then a stock greased ball joint.

I don't really care about noise, I'm running 37's and w/o a muffler. I called Advanced and they have TRW ball joints for $38 and O'Reilly's has Moog for $42. Opinions? What is the price or part number for the UCA?

I was gone give me a bit. I would get the camburg arms they are about the same as total chaos but only 550 not 675. As for lowers I am going back to stock, my moog boots riped just lubing them. Seriously not 2 weeks after putting them in they were leaking, yeah it was my fault over filling them but until I RVTed them every time I would hit them with grease one trip home and it would be dripped on to my wheel then slung around the wheel well. I would go stock lowers. There have been many debates on dezertrangers about which is the best BJ and most people say the stock ford ones.

I guess I will call napa tomorrow and see what they have. What about TRW? I am debating about redoing a lot of the front end. New bilstein shocks, new control arms, and new lower ball joints and calling it a day with the suspension. I don't want to do what have to do now and then realign it when I change the torn upper and then realign after the other side wears out and then REALIGN again after I change my shocks out.

IDK about TRW's i havnt heard any reviews on them, as for the front end if you need all that I would just save up and do it all at once only one tear down and one alignment.

How long do I have on that bad lower ball joint? Are the Total Chaos that much better then the stocks?
