I need a way to carry a shovel around

Is there any other way of hauling a shovel with me besides just throwing it in the bed so it wont bounce around? Like something secure, im going to start bringing a shovel with me when I go mudding cause now on countless occasions I needed one and wished I had brought one. So now that im going to bring one, I need a way to have it in my bed or some where other than inside the cabin with out it bouncing around and stuff. Any ideas?

Drill a hole in the top of the handle.
Run a cord or small rope through the hole.
Loop it around the anchor point in the bed.

if you wanted to be creative, you may be able to create some brackets or something and mount it to your frame. or maybe just zip tie it... but then again you may not be able to get to it if youre really stuck...

or maybe just get one of those little 2 ft. hand shovels and throw it behind the seat or like thumper said, in a toolbox...

just some ideas

I always have a shovel in the bed. It doesnt bounce around unless you drive like you stole it.

I have seen (Lowe's? Home Depot?) some screw or bolt-down holders that have velcro straps. Basically you screw them in place, lay the shovel or axe across them, then use the velcro to strap the tool down.

I'll post a link if I can find it...

Get a 2x4, and cut it the width of the bed. Then get yourself one of these:

Screw it to the 2x4 and have it clamp on to your shovel and if you've got other things like a broom or even another shovel. It might come in handy one day.

brackets

These are for fire trucks, don't see why you couldn't mount them inside your bed, there are generic ones and ones specifically for shovels.

Use some self-tapping screws and screw it right to the inside of your bed.

look at some offroading/jeep online stores. I have seen countless jeeps with an axe and shovel on a rack. Im sure you could mount one in your truck bed against the cab.
