should have bought a truck with the bigger tank... but... you can install it yourself or have someone do it for you... 35.7 gallons... I spend about $90 to fill that damn thing though...
EDIT: Also... if you use ford parts... (I'm not advocating this move at all) there is no way that ford could know if your truck came stock with that tank... Again, this is just me typing out loud... just commenting... ya know...

The only real difference I could see is that the sending unit wouldnt be off. At half tank it would read 2/3s and at 1/4 it would read 1/3 or so. Get the correct sending unit and even that would be solved, but I would bet money the tank itself is the same.

For an FYI... I have replaced a couple, albeit not many, fuel pumps in f150's under warranty...

Not like Ford would warrant anything that went wrong with another OEM tank in there. It's not what came with the truck, why would they warrant it?
Now to the original poster, stop more for gas. It's the cheapest solution.

Add a 90 gallon tank from northerntool in the bed and have a fuel pump fill the main tank when needed. That should help. Gonna take you a week a the pump to fill up 127 gallons of gasoline. You'll raise the Gross National Product every time you fill up.

Legally and technically, no, it's not warrantable... but... with ford parts there... the only way to know that the truck didn't come with the 35.7 gallon tank is to use vbom... and all the techs here know how accurate that is...
EDIT: Forgot an example... I ordered a seat cover for a 07 Exploder based on vbom info... had to order another one when the wrong one came in.

I just fueled up my truck today, 33.31 gals---572.9 miles---17.2mpg. The only bad part was $100.42, but it has been 2months since put any gas in the truck

He has it hooked up to transfer from the bed tank into the truck tank, all with just a flip of the upfitter switch.

2 MONTHS!!!!!! i put $80+ in my tank a week and im just a student.
I ordered my truck with the 35.7 gallon tank... love it. But I have the 6.5 bed. I don't know if it would fit on the shorter 5.5 bed. And no, just changing the filler neck will not give you an added 8 gallons of capacity RAMSS/T.
Not to mention that there is a recall for the 27 gallon tank and not for the 35 gallon tank

Its just one of the benifits of the company I work for, 95% of our jobsites are within 2 miles of my house so in the summer when the weather is nice I either ride bike or take the scoot.
Sorry about derailing the thread.....
run a search for swapping out for the larger ford tank...someone here actually priced it out...if i remember correctly it was somewhere around $1k to do the swap.
