Why did you buy Ford vs. the others?

I have owned Ford trucks for nearly 18 years. My dad has owned Ford trucks for 40+ years.IMO the 04+ F150s are the best looking trucks on the market.
When I'm ready for my next truck in 2009 or 2010 I will take a look at the others.Hopefully by then Ford will offer more HP and a 6 speed transmission.

I was either wanting another Dodge Dakota... but it had to be a v8 with a stick. But the dealers hassled me on everything (almost like they wanted me to buy from their selection of trucks, rather than special order it)... so I went to my local Ford dealer and I looked on their lot, and they only had 1 truck with a stick, and that was this '07 F150... I walked in and bought it for 17k. Best thing I could have ever done!

I grew up in Brook Park Ohio, just downwind of the Cleveland engine plant. So after years of smelling the fumes I'm brainwashed and can't buy anything but a Ford. I strayed once and bought a Cavaleir, and I'm still waiting for Henry to forgive me.
Actually, I fell in love with the new body style in 04 and had to have one. I'm now on my second one.

The only good news in any of this falling economy is if you're in the market for a new truck of any make I bet there are some dealerships willing to sale at slightly below sticker price. Hehehe
________
failing economy???? what are you smoking? the market going up and down a little does not make a failing economy. A little under sticker??? how about a lot under sticker? Sticker on mine was 41k+.. I walked out paying 33k. Yeah.. I say that is "a little" under sticker.
I stay with Ford because of the quality of the trucks, and capability. gm (God's mistake) still can't touch the truck market Ford has. They still put drum brakes on most of there trucks for crying out loud. Toy isn't even and option. Sure it is fast.. so what? it is not capable to haul any thing.. and there tow ratings are totally bogus if you care about safety in towing. dudge? What is that?

I have owned primairly Ford's for a long time, from Rangers and Mustangs to my last truck (2001 F-150).
All have been pretty much trouble free (except for my current 2004).
I bought it on looks and past experiences. It was between my current F-150 and the Dodge 1500.
I didn't like the interior of the Dodge, gas mileage was about the same (4.6 vs 4.7).
Although all the time and effort to get everything fixed on my 04 was a pain in the ****, I can say (now) overall I am happy I chose the F-150.

Because my 03 Ford Sport Trac was a lemon. Here in Canada we don't have lemon laws, so the dealership helped me get out of that lease and into a new one with the F150. If I hadn't stuck with Ford it would have cost me big bucks to get out of the lease on the lemon that was spending more time in the shop then it was on the road. Not a good situation when you need your truck to work. Luckily my F150 had better luck.

You mean aside from the obvious fact that it is the best all-aroundtruck on the market?
Well, my father's father and the vast majority of our family starting with and around them tried different brands, and quickly settled on Ford and were always served well. We've had several people in the family go 300k+ miles on their Ford trucks in harsh Minnesota weather.
My Dad even tried a few brands, and at the end of the day he says he wishes he just bought Ford trucks from the beginning because they are the best.
Having owned 2 Ford trucks, and having worked at a dealership and driven every type of used truck possible- I would have to agree.
Ford trucks > all others.

Here's my story....
I had a 2001 Chevy S-10, in the shop nine times for a loose front end component. Tried the Lemon Law deal with a lawyer. Got boondoggled by GM. Swore to never own another GM product. So, Chevy/GMC was out.
Liked the looks of the Dodge, I was rather sceptical as they don't have a great reputation from my friends who have owned them. Liked the looks and performance. Interior was rather cheesy and it drove and felt very large and sluggish.
Toyota was nice, a little under powered and rather expensive. Did not care for the older, 2005, Tundra body style. looked like a claw-foot bathtub fell over it.
That left the Ford. Liked the nimble feeling of steering, acceleration was outstanding, interior was a little futuristic but I got used to it. Bought the 2005 Ford F150 XLT 5.4 S'Crew 2wd. Love it! Installed a 18" magnaflow, 2006 20" wheels/tires, SuperChips tuner, have a AirAid CAI and DJM lowering shackles on the way. Plan to get bed coated with LineX in near future.

I grew up around Ford trucks. My grandpa always had them on the farm, my dad owned and operated a construction company for 25+ years, and then sold that business and started a excavating company that he ran for about 10 years until he retired last year. He always had either F250 or F350 4X4's and ever since 1984 he has had diesels. So it just seemed natural for me to get a Ford, first it was a 88 2wd Ranger that I had for about 1 year. Then I bought my 94 F150 4X4 that I still have. With over 160000 miles, towing equipment 2-3 days a week during most of the summer and lots of 4WD use in the winter, it doesn't use a drop of oil between changes and still has the orginal clutch from 13 years ago, the truck has been just GREAT!!!! When I was looking at getting another truck, I did look at the others because of the HP ratings and such. But I still came back to the Fords, now I wish that I would have gotten a F250/350. For a 1/2 ton and what I have put this truck through while towing I couldn't ask for anything more.

chris1450,
I said falling economy not failing economy. And slightly below sticker was my attempt at humor. Alright, not funny but it was an attempt.
The sticker on my '06 was $31030 and after paying dealers invoice less $5506 total in rebates I left there with a $22188.48 truck. Yes, I think that is slightly less than sticker. I think it's a pretty solid deal. Dealer gets his dealer holdback and I get a truck worth the money. Everyone's happy.
I assume that with sales down even worse than last year for Ford a person can get that kind of a deal on the yearend '07 trucks also.
Failing economy? No. Spiraling downward at the moment? Yes. But that's how it's always gone, in cycles.
