Hey man..glad to hear your ok first of all. But I'd get every penny I could, something could happen in the future with the leg and you wouldnt want to be stuck paying for it. Glad to hear the trailer company isnt trying to slide out of it. Sorry to hear about the truck, I'd cry for days if mine was totaled.
2009 trucks on the way though!! Gotta be excited about that!

Don't feel bad. You never know what could come out of your injured leg. It could bother you forever and leg injury often turn into back injuries because your body tries to compensate for a bad leg. Get a Lawyer. They will make sure all of your medical bills are covered forever, and take care of your truck and possibly pain and suffering. You definitely dont want to incur medical bills later on down the road because you were being a nice guy to Mr. Construction Company. Medical bills can kill you. Cover your azz!

That stinks. about 2 years ago around here, a wood chipper came loose from this guy's truck and crashed into a minivan killing a dad and his 2 little kids. The guy did not hook up the chipper properly and he was also on drugs, he's in jail now.

Got the pics

Here are some pics of the aftermath. I am in the middle of the people which is where my truck threw me when I was hit. It rolled me pretty good n knocked one of my boots off! Scariest thing I have ever been involved with! The 3rd pic is of the trailer where the hitch busted off or something. I have no idea of the significance of that pic but my boss and the mechanic took it because they said something wasn't right with the weld or something...?

I am not sure if it is or not, but I figured if the driveshaft is crushed and my rear right wheel is still attached but is that far up inside the bed, it is probably bent. When my boss n the mechanic looked at it they said everything was smashed into one big V under the truck. I have not been able to look at the truck yet, just have the pics for now.

It sounds like you are a very lucky man. This stuff is scary. Last month here in Montana a horse trailer full of lumber came off a truck on the interstate, crossed the median and hit a pickup going the other way killing the driver. There were no safety chains or emergency brake cables on the trailer. I heard the hitch may have broken (something that maybe could have been detected before towing). It makes you wonder what else is out there on the highway with you every day. You can't avoid all situations but it pays to double check your hitch connections . In all of these instances the person towing the trailer was not injured. Someone else paid the price for their stupidity or negligence. How long does it take to hook up the safety chains? I think the trailer tower has the responsibility to cover ALL of your expenses for this "accident".

Best of luck on your recovery.

Went to the hospital the other night and had some x rays done. Have another appointment tuesday. I really hate the idea of having to call a lawyer b/c they get 25% straight off the top.

It'd be worth it to contact a lawyer.
