lifted gas mileage
lifted gas mileage
Just out of curiosity, what do you all get for gas mileage with a 4 wheel drive and 33 or 35 inch tires. Just curious because next summer I want to get a new F150 and put 35's on it but I don't want to do it if I cant afford the gas for it. All help is appreciated.
On 35's and 4.56's I'm averaging 13-14 mpg per tank in probably 70/30 highway/city depending on how I'm driving and how much idling I do at work. The display always reads about .5-1 mpg optimistic. Best tank yet was 15.6 mpg average. To give perspective I used to average 14-15 mpg with a stock '98 reg cab 4x4 so although I'd love to get better the difference is a non issue.
I am running 325/60/18's (33X13). With a combo of about 50/50 (city/highway) I average right around 15mpg, some tanks of gas are better some are worse. I have had a all time best of 18.6 on a longer highway trip, but also a low of 9.something when doing ALOT of heavy towing.
For what the truck is, a heavy 4WD brick, I am happy with the mileage.

If you have to worry about it before doing it you probably shouldnt do it. Too many people on here go n get a lift without thinking bout those kinda things then sell it a few months later. the people who should truely get a lift on their truck are people who take it offroad and have enough $$ to not haveto worry about beingempty in the backpocket when the lift gets put on.
