The official instructions from what I understand to remove the TB is to break loose by hand, then hook up a air gun and zip them out. If not they are proan to breaking...

I'm sure quitin can confirm that.

I read this thread a couple of days ago and knoew what I was getting into.

Took the throttle body off and went to take off the TPS... stripped the first screw. There must be enough Loctite on those things to stop a train from moving!

I have to drill out the screw now because that's gonna be the only way to get it out. *sigh*

A set of torx bits is considered "special tools"?

I just changed mine today also. I actually have confidence in driving my truck again without it dieing in traffic. It idles goof again and doesn't die or surge when I come to a stop.

Mine must have almost completly failed. It's done it for a couple of years now, but recently has gotten WAY worse.

The main symptoms were surging and dieing when coming to a stoplight/sign.

The other is hard to expain. When on a two lane road traveling 55MPH (roughly) following somebody where I wasn't giving it very much throttle.

*Barely pushing throttle, letting off, barely on throttle, letting off*

Giving it enough to keep up. This would sometimes cause the truck to go into failsafe mode. VERY frustrating!

Anyways, I got a new sensor today and put it on and all seems better. I drove it for a while today and it feels MUCH better (for now).

I had to cut the top off of one of the torx screws because I stripped the hell out of it. :o Then I used a pair of pliers and unscrewed it.
