installing Fabtech- have questions

Im in the middle of my fabtech 6" install and have a couple questions. I have the front diff reinstalled and the back of it is talted back just a little. Everything lines up and bolts up, just just thought it was odd. Anyone else have this problem?

Also, Right now I have the new shock on and a 2" AS. It was a bitch to get the top balljoint nut caught but after a while i got it. There is no way that i can get the tierod bolted to the knuckle though. If i try and put the jack under the a-arm and jack it up, im just lifting the truck off the stands. I am hoping once i get a tire bolted on and set the truck down, i will be able to bolt that up??

And last, the front brakes. I installed the new brake bracket and pulled the most i could from the factory metal brake line, and I still dont have enought brake like to bolt the caliper up. Are longer brake lines needed for 8" of lift?

thanks for any info you can provide. Cant wait to get this done.

You should be able to extend the lines just enough, I didn't have much room to spare from what I recall. It's supposed to be tilted some, I believe it's to help with vibration/shaft angles. And take a pic of that tie rod problem, that doesn't sound possible seeing as the LCA is flexible and should be able to raise the strut. Maybe you reused the factory strut and not the aftermarket strut that came with Fabtech's kit.

i just put my rancho on last weekend and getting the knuckles to the uca is a PITA, i had the my help take a bar and pry down while i lifted the knuckle up and started the nut. spray the threads on the uca arm before doing it so that you can get enough rounds with the nuts before the damn things starts spinning, other wise you wont be able to tighten it up. yes my diff is tilted back a shimmy too. not sure on the brake lines, but my stockers wouldnt have reached thats for sure.

thanks for the responses... after playing with the brakes a little more i get them lines long enough. I also noticed that the tappered hole on the new fabtech knuckles are opposite that of the factory. So i just rotated the tierods and they slide down into the new knuckle instead of up from the bottom like the factory..... the fabtech directions dont say anything about that... haha.

Also... I have the 2" AS spacer on.... its not letting my suspension compress at all. I have the tires on now and the suspesnion didnt move. The knuckle is still sitting up against the spring and my CVs are Maxed... Im going to pull the spacer off... screw it.

Excellent decision. You're only gonna cuase more stress to the suspension by doing this. Also, it will even out your CV angles to keep everything operating like it suposed to.
