Ford parts tells me no locking gas cap available!
For my 2007 F150 XLT 5.4. They told me for some unknown reason Ford does not make a locking gas cap for my truck because of when my truck was made, which was 10/06.
Anyone have any input on this? Seems damn strange to me.
With gas going over $4.00 here in sunny San Jose, CA, I'd like to lock it, at least for some peace of mind. I've also read here on this forum somewhere, that the non Ford caps like Stant do not work very well, if at all.

I think they're available, but not really necessary. There's a flapper valve that prevents a person from sticking a siphon hose down the filler neck.
Here's a few old posts talking about it:

I heard about that too. You have to be DAMN desperate to 1. steal gas 2. put your life at risk. The story I heard the guy was using an electric drill and the current from the drill sparked and the tank exploded.

They lied or are just plain stupid. Your Ford part # is 8L3Z-9030-E and the Motorcraft part # is FC-1062
Oh, and gas stealing is happening around the area– not epidemic, but definitely happening. That and the catalytic converter theft. Gas will probably go well over $4.00 I imagine. I just paid $3.94 for regular yesterday at the cheapest 76 in town. Premium is running about $4.15
Regards all

Yes. Just the other day there was a story on the news about someone drilling into a tank to get gas. People are getting desperate. Those that are barely making it buy can't even afford to get to work. That being said i would not bother with the lock. Way more expensive to get the gas tank fixed than just filling it up.

I tried to siphon gas out of my truck back in November...it didn't work. I had to get <1/4 tank of gas to ship it. Ended up driving over 100 miles instead. How do they do it?
if the tank is mostly full, it is actually really safe. Gas won't just explode...the vapors are the dangerous part. I wouldn't do it, but I've heard of people welding gas tanks to fix holes while the tank was full.
