Which Bilsteins do I need?

So Thumper, just to clarify. The Rize kit uses 6" rear blocks and you use them without the factory blocks, so you gain about 4" in the rear... correct?

If that's true, you might meed longer brake lines too.

hell I am confused tell me how much higher over stock you will be in the rear and Ill point you in the right direction. Also fox, SAW are all great shocks but to make them great shocks you have to get them valved for your truck. Out of the box they will be allright but there is no need to spend that money if you arnt going to get them valved for your truck you would be better off going for a prevalved shock like donahoe. I was set on foxs tell i learned they only ride ok with out taking the time (and money if you dont know how ot valve shocks) to valve them.

I've got the Rize 6" block and a 2" Deaver add-a-leaf for 8" of lift in the rear. I've got 10" up front and still need an additional 2" in the rear to level it out. I've measured. The brake lines actually have more slack in them. Rize says the Bilstein 5150s that come with their kit are 22.5" ext. length and 14.17 col length. They ride fine even with the additional 2" Deaver add-a-leaf.

thump stop being hung up on the numbers they give you there is no way that is right, go measure for yourself and youll see. For 8-10 inch I recomend a 16 inch travel shock that would be around 40 inches extended. I personally think it wil be long but I am worried that a 14 inch shock (35e,21c) would be a hair to short being I went with a 12 inch (31,19) for just a pro comp lift (5 inch of total lift) Someone with a rize lift need to take a measurement for us of their stock shock and this will be solved.

Well technically you do have 8" of lift in the rear, but you only have 6" over stock height because your factory 2" block was replaced with the 6" block. So you're 4" higher than stock from the block and 2" higher from the AAL.

That's impossible... the stock shocks are longer than that.

Tomorrow I will measure the horizontal distance from the top shock mount to the vertical centerline of the lower shock mount.
- That number will remain constant no matter how high you lift the rear end.

Then I'll measure the vertical distance from that horizontal plane down to the lower shock mount.
[i]- This number will change depending on how much lift you have from blocks, AAL, leafs, etc., but it will be easy to calculate this distance from one truck to another based on what you say you have back there.

With those two measurments I'll be able to figure out the angle the shock will be mounted at and what length shock you'll need. It won't take into account that the rear axle slighty swings through an arc as it moves up and down, but it will be close enough.
