Supercrew Gas Mileage

Ok, first of all, I already searched and got nothing (which i find hard to believe... maybe the search function isnt working properly?)...

Anyway, I've read a couple threads about gas mileage, and all I can say is that some of you guys mut be driving downhill with a 50 mph tailwind everywhere you go! I've got an '05 Supercrew Lariat with the 5.4, and according to the computer, I'm averaging exactly 15.0 mpg... My truck is bone stock, at least 80% of my driving is on the interstate, and i drive like a damn granny (seriously!). Whats the deal? I hear some of you guys talking about 19 mpg?! What the %@#^! do I have to do to get mileage like that?!

15 is pretty close to what I've been averaging in my Supercrew 4x4. I think 16 is about the best that I've ever gotten (and that was almost 100% highway miles going between 70-80 mph).

5.4 2wd supercrew here, average 19+ mpg here every tank, 80% highway driving. I also have a tonneau and the edge.

EDIT: 3.55 gearing.

I average 14mpg in my bone stock '06 SCrew. 80% highway. I can't seem to do any better then that, but I don't seem to do any worse either, even when towing the boat around.

I personally think the tonneau helps, but not a lot. I average > 18, near 19 with my 5.4 SuperCrew XLT 4x4 3.73 LS with a tonneau.

The trick is to keep it under 2k RPM's and keep it under 70 MPH

Also, make sure your tires are aired up properly.

Remember, all trucks are different, and two driven identically by the same person won't return the same MPG.

I think you guys are missing a part here... the guys with 2x4 vs. the 4x4, the 2x4 has a lot less goin on underneath so drag has got to be better. us guys with the 4x4 have the transfer case as well as front diff adding to the problem. I have an FX4 but would think i am WAAAY closer to 15 then 19.

15.9 average with my 04' Lariat Screw 4x4 with 3.73 gearing with a 4" lift on 35's (never recalibrated for the bigger tires, so it's a little better than 15.9). Everything else is stock. Mostly highway miles at 60mph.

My '07 FX4 gets 19.2 MPG highway and roughly 14.5 MPG city. It got the same MPG with & without the tonneau.

I started a thread about this a few days ago... I'm averaging 12 MPG, with most of my driving city/traffic. That's on a bone stock 4x2 truck that has exceptional maintenance history, as well as running full synthetic oil. And I drive very mildly, very rarely flooring it... Terrible gas mileage!
