They actually give tickets for not having mud flaps and fender flares?! What is the purpose behind having mud flaps and fender flares?

Here in wisconsin you can get a ticket if the tires are sticking more than 2" out past the body of the truck, if I remember right it is either $151 or $212. But we don't have anything about mud flaps, at least for light duty trucks (ie. under 2 ton) but bobtailing semis must run flags otherwise they will get ticketed.

Not sure what your laws are there but even with bushwackers pocketflares your tires will still stick out like 2" beyond that.

I grew up in Pennsylvania and know they have lots of laws concerning height of the bumpers and how much the tires protrude from the fenders. Here in Tennessee, they don't seem to care as much.

Getting a ticket like that would make me a little angry ... I'm not aware of such a law in GA (and I've seen many trucks with tires sticking farther than 2" out), only recollection I have is that it cannot stick out further than the mirrors, not sure where I heard that though..

I've also been told before it is illegal in GA to alter your suspension (on any vehicle) more than 2", up or down - has to do something with negating the passive safety features of other vehicles, e.g. lifted truck puts its frame rails through the window of a car/SUV instead of into the side impact beams.

I've also never seen or heard of anyone getting a ticket for having a lifted/lowered vehicle so please take all of this with a grain of salt, not sure where I can go or who I can ask about these laws to confirm them...

Cmon now Capt, you don't know what you're missin! I haven't been ticketed for anything yet, other than speeding. And it wasn't in this truck, only thing was a front license plate ticket and a warning about my headlights.

I'm sure it's a great place to visit, but definately not somewhere I'd wanna live.
