S&B, Volant, or Outlaw

I need some help deciding on which air intake to get. I want an inclosed kit and I am considering the three listed in the title. If you have one of these kits please respond with your experiences and opinions on throttle response, HP, sound, and MPG.

Thanks,

Doug

I have the S&B intake, as you know an intake alone won't really increase too much performance. I really like the S&B have only had it a a month or two now, no problems, easy install. The intake sounds great too when it gets above 2300 RPMs or so. I haven't had the truck dyno'd but i can feel the difference in the butt dyno. My 0-60 improved slightly. I would recommend it to anyone.

I know an intake alone wont do a whole lot for performance on its own, I already have an exhaust, programmer and gears. I am just looking for a little bit more performance and better gas mileage

Why none of the above? I am looking for an inclosed kit instead of exposed. My truck isnt just a pavement pounder. I am in muddy and dusty terrain quite a bit. What would you recommend?

Thanks,

Doug

Excellent reason to not get an open CAI. I think the trend lately, due to new research, has been steering away from the open type CAI to more closed true "cold" air intakes

I forgot to add something. I would prefer a dry filter over an oiled filter.

With the S&B how often do you have to clean and re-oil it?

I'll have to look at the manual and check, i've only had it in for 1-2 months.
I will check the manual and have the answer in about an hour.

Nevermind, i just looked online at their website, and it says more or less, to check it every 3,000 miles and if there is a large visible buildup of dirt to clean it.

So my guess would be that if you are not mudding everyday that you should only need to clean it every six months or so. Depending on driving conditions of course. With it being an enclosed box though, i am sure you can go longer.

The S&B is sounding pretty good to me. I can handle checking it every time I change my oil.
Thanks for all of the quick responces from everyone.

Don't forget the required custom tuning you'll need to correct that intake's effect on A/F's....
