I recently purchased my modified truck. I noticed my speedometer is off by about 10%. Is this a huge problem if I do not correct it right away? It looks like I have to spend atleast $250.00 (superchips tirepaq) to correct it. Is this a guaranteed fix?? Am I going to cause more problems by just dealing with it? atleast for awhile?? Or do you recommend a better programmer??

In the long run it could be a problem due to puckered shift points and some other problem issues with the tranny. The odometer can end up being off quite a bit too.

 

Actually I dont know much about it yet. I am currently in Iraq. I just bought the truck. My freinds picked it up for me. All I know is that it is a fully functional computer with windows XP. It also has navigation capabilites. The harddrive is located under the seat. It has a wireless mouse and keyboard. If you're in a hotzone I can get wireless internet. I guess its pretty cool. I cannot wait to get home and see it.

 

So is the superchips tirepaq the way to go?? Or is there a better route to take??

 

You could fix it a number of ways. 1. superchips 2.Edge Evolution 3. Dealer can reprogram for you. I'm sure there are a couple more

3. Not necessarily. The factory tuning only allows so much in tire size/speedo correction, and it's very, very, very little compared to what a tuner of some type can do.

 

Quintin, check out this thread. How far can the dealer recalibrate? This guy has 305/70/18 that is quite a bit bigger than stock.

My dealer told me 32" was the highest they could go. I would look into custom tuning. It will be well worth it.

 

I'd just get a programable tuner. Edge woukld fit the bill just fine.
