Fuel Filter Replacement

I just replaced my fuel filter without incident and to be truthful I am darn pleased with myself.

I did a search on this item and read the numerous posts regarding the "blue clip" and problems with it breaking. I owe a lot of thanks to those who posted the hints for my success.

Kenny

As much as this site will "make" you spend money, there are plenty of ways it will save you money - such as fuel filter replacement.

Yeah I replace mine, too. It was hard the first time but now it's gotten easier. I was at a Jiffy Lube once (yeah I've been a few times, but not anymore), and the tech leaned out from behind my hood with some dirty piece of foam and told me I needed a new fuel filter. I said "Uh, yeah, try again." The manager apologized and got someone else to do my oil change.

I do all my own truck maintenance now.

I'll be doing mine in another 1,000 miles. I plan on doing mine every 15,000 miles.

My truck has 52500 and ive done 2 filters now. The first was a Wix and the one I put on Saturday is a Fram. I dont think there will be that much difference. I decided to do a Fram Tough Gaurd oil filter too, the box says 7,000 mile filter. Ill see about that

Yeah, there really isn't much to changing one as long as you have the right tool. I need to do mine again now that I think about it.

I did my first oil change this weekend on my new (to me) 2005 4.6.
I have read some posts that gave me nightmares, others gave me courage, it was tough to get to the filter but not as hard as I had figured it could be.

What do you guys use for a filter wrench?

I have not done all my homework so please forgive me but please fill me in on what is "blue clip"?

Also I have decided to do my changes at 3000 miles using the motocraft 5w20 blend and the 820s filter. Does anyone see a problem with my choice of product or interval?

Thank you

That's more often than what the owners manual suggests... should be good!

I think you confused. We're talking about fuel filters, not oil filters.
