Bad window squeek... Solution?
Bad window squeek... Solution?
When I roll my driver side window up and down I get this extremely embarrassingly shrill squeeking. Does anyone else have this problem? Is there a solution to the problem?
I have the same problem because I am based on the coast of NC, and the ground is like a 80/20 mix of sand to dirt so when I go muddin I normally try to leave the windows down inorder to prevent the squeeking sound. The only real remedy that I have found it to take a part your door panel and pull out the window seals and give them a good cleaning to remove any builtup sand and dirt. I got tired of pulling them a part and tried a pressure washer w/ the window down and got some of it but still squeeked. I then just tried to pretend it didnt do it and now the outside glass has scratches on it from the sand! Yea it sucks. But hope this works

I had the same problem, took it into the dealer they "lubed" it and "adjusted" it, but the squeek came back. I took the door panel off, removed the vapor barrier (plastic) near the door lock assembly there is a track with a plastic piece, I first hit it with silicone, then used some lithium grease. No problems since then. It is a hassel, but it is better than hearing the squeek. Hope this helps. I should have taken pics, sorry.
So I decided to nip it in the bud and dig in and see what I could find... Also figured I would do a little acoustic dampening in there beings I had the door panel off. I believe I found the problem, I believe it is the track with the plastic guide that the window goes up and down on. I will take pics here in a minute. I'm waiting on the WD40 to get home it's in the dads truck right now so it will be here in a little bit and I'll know for sure. I'm thinking the WD40 will only be a suppressant and my problem will come back in a short period of time. Does anyone know of a permanent lubrication I can use? I'm thinking that I might just put some Brake bearing grease on there and see what that does.
make sure that your door panels are put on correctly because it theyre barely off it could affect it. I thought mine was due to tint also but then i realized the idiot that put in my components didnt put the doorpanels back on right. I think my subs might have knocked mine of a little bit too because i have a delayed reaction sometimes too
