*** is not really a bad word anymore. All I am saying is most 4wd guy just think they can go anywhere and are mostly idiots. They think all they have to do is go fast and hit it! At some points I wish I had bought a 4wd truck (i.e. towing my trailer into the sandy areas at getting stuck) but for the most part I can go anywhere I want with my 2wd.

 

You could keep it on the gas all you want you want there is no way you would climb dunes like this.

 

Agreed. Which is why I went with a leveling kit and 33s. Nothing extreme, but just enough to make it tougher, higher, and look better.

 

I don't think just cause a guy raises a 2WD they're automatically trying to imitate a 4WD, I certainly didn't do it for that reason. Now when 2WD owners go and try to buy 4x4 stickers and put on their trucks then yes, they are taking things too far and need to quit posing.

I really don't understand all the hating on lifted 2WD trucks. Lifts aren't strictly for additional ground clearance anymore. I think the majority of truck owners, 2WD & 4WD, lift their trucks today for the improved looks and to fit a larger tire period. Trucks simply cost too much money for owners to do any serious offroading in them.

I believe I made it pretty clear I support modding your truck to make it look better. I actually have been in some serious 4x4 in my truck. Mud up to the keypad on my door and it was on 2 wheels multiple times (on the passenger side, basically about to tip over). My FX4 did quite well if I say so myself, never got stuck. And it performed better than my lifted Bronco did on the same trail.

my issue is when guys like 04procompLARIAT (nothing personal, you were the most vocal) go around rabidly anti-4x4 (read the entire thread) and pretend their (his) 4x2 can play with the 4x4. I respect the Baja trucks, but honestly, that is the only truly offroad capable 4x2. The rest are good for dirt roads and pavement only. You're just asking to be made a fool when you take a 4x2 offroad.

It was a special edition baja 1000 truck to celebrate the win in an f150. They should have the decals on the rockers to explain. Ive seen a couple at dealerships that were fx4's.

 

4wd only really helps out alot in slipery places, like mud, snow, and deep sand, other than that 2wd is fine. I hardly ever used 4wd in my '79, except once when I got stuck on a wet grassy hill that I stopped on.

Im going to drop my f150, and put A/T tires and a good LS in the rear. I will only be on flat ground either on dirt roads or sandy beaches to get my quad in. No need to lift. Im sick of having to step up in a 2wd, and Im not short.

yeah yeah w/e people can offroad in 2wd all they want, but i would never get a 2wd just for the fact of buffalo winter. Having lower ground clearance would be bad enough for it, then only havin 2 wheels spinnin, id have no chance in hell.

 

I got 6" on mine and get alot of compliments on it. Id show you but have problems with my computer.
