Pluses and Minuses

Received a call today from a co-worker who's I believe is contemplating on buying a new F150. I gave him my pluses and minuses but would like to see your thoughts so I could pass this along to him and perhaps gain a new forum member.

Thanks

PLUSES
Look (exterior / interior)
Ride
Comfort (love the supercrew option)
Stereo (really enjoy the upgrade option with subwoofer)
Rear sensors (a gotta have option)
Seat warmers (my wifes favorite option)

MINUSES
Mileage (but I knew this getting into the deal)
Recurring "shutter" issue with the limited slip
Recurring auto rear window hanging up

If he is going to buy an 06, or 07 it wouldn't be fair for me to chime in with all the problems i have had with my "2004". I think they have corrected the majority of problems that i have encountered.

I agree. I swear my 04 has every single problem that anyone talks about on this forum. Unfortunetly it's way out of warranty so I just have to deal with it. My dads 06 is absolutely flawless, i'm jealous.

PRO's: Ride quality, very quiet in the cab under all conditions, lots of after market and support for the 5.4 and the 6.5 bed option.
CON's: I wish the windows had the auto up option

Pluses: It still leads the pack in hauling and towing, it's the strongest, and it has the most configuration choices.

Pros: It's dead sexy, it's a blast to drive, it;s very comfortable, it's very capable at doing things trucks are meant to do, it's the safest, strongest built truck in its class, and it will be a great truck for a long time.

Cons: Not gas friendly (It's a truck), it needs about $1k in mods to be made "quick," but if speed is not an issue, neither is this "con," and it can depreciate fairly rapidly due to current economic current within Ford, as well as the world.

LMAO...I am on my 3rd drivers seat lower leather at 37000 miles (and my dad is on his second at 24,000 miles), my last Ram had 90,000 on it when I traded it and the leather was still near perfect.

BUT it may have higher quality plastic than the other trucks do...

15,000 miles on my leather and it literally looks 100% brand new.

My Dad has an 04 with even lighter tan leather, and he REALLY abuses the crap out of his truck. I think *I* treated his leather 1 time in 3 years, over 60k miles, and he's DAILY doing concrete work, yard work, etc etc and his seats are still perfect with very minimal wrinkles at worst.

Sounds like you've got something odd going on with your behind

PROS: www.f150online.com... This site is awesome. I seriously consider being a member of this site a PRO of owning an F150.

CONS: www.f150online.com... Dang! This site gets to be expensive. Reading/seeing all the mods that are available makes you think that "I've gotta have that!" and "Ah, what the heck. The patio can wait until next year!"...

Pros
1. The 04-07 is the best looking half-ton truck on the road...period.
2. The build quality is head and shoulders above the others.
3. The F150 will last. Just ask the guys driving trucks that are over 20 years old.
4. Smooth, quiet, comfortable ride.

Cons
1. The F150 has less power than others like the Titan and Tundra.
2. Fuel mileage.
3. Spark plugs breaking off in the heads.

If you're considering the Tundra, read this.

2007 Tundra Falls Short in NHTSA Frontal Crash Test Rating

In what may turn out to be a significant marketing and sales blow to the biggest vehicle launch in Toyota's history, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has released its frontal impact crash test ratings for the new 2007 Tundra full size pickup - only four out of five stars for driver and passenger safety. NHTSA tested the Regular and Double Cab versions of the Tundra, with the same four star results.

In the same test, the all new 2007 Chevrolet Silverado scored five out of five stars, matching the same five star scores previously earned by the current Ford F-150 for driver and front passenger safety in a frontal impact.

Your friend should go out and drive Fords, Dodges, Chevrolets, Nissans, Toyotas, and whatever else he's interested in and buy whatever works for him. A lot of the reasoning for me buying an F150 is brand loyality; my dad's a Ford guy, I grew up around Fords, I work on them, and the F150 offers the best overall package for me. It may not work that way for someone else.
