???What am i doing wrong???

ok..... i have read many threads on gas mileage on here and all pretty much say the same thing and i do all that already......stay under 2k rpm, light foot, light weight, etc.....as far as my truck....i have an 06 SCrew 5.4, 3.73 LS, 2WD with 12k miles, i have added the AS 2.5" which puts my .5" higher than a 4WD, OEM 4WD blocks on the rear which puts me the same as a 4WD, i have put on the OEM 20s that come on 4WD also.......so my question is....Why am i only getting 12mpg in town and 15mpg highway??? is it time to replace fuel filter already? what else can i try?

mine gets the same numbers- got the same when it was stock too- if you go look at new ones, they're only projected 14 city 18 highway
12C/15H is close enough in my book.

if that is the case and i can understand, but i was getting alot better.....use to be 15c/18-19h.....i just wouldnt think having the same stance of a 4wd and same tires but no t-case it would make that much difference....

I've got the FX4 with 2.5" AS kit and running 32" tires on OEM 18" wheels. With my CAI and catback, I'm getting ~15 mpg mixed with 19+ mpg strictly highway

you could/should try:
1. PCM update
2. oil & filter change (full synthetic 5w20)
3. better air filter (CAI if you don't have one. K&N drop in seems to be okay also)
4. use your cruise control alot and don't do jackrabbit starts

oh yeah, why octane of gas do you use, and do you use the E-85? I like using Chevron gas and Conoco gas only. Valero (Shamrock) seems to be okay gas also, but I don't see much of it up here in the North. Shell and BP have given me the worst MPG per tank consistently.

i will try the pcm update at next oil change and i use whatever oil the dealer uses.....i have a maintenance plan with them, kn istall i want to do right now, my dealer is an a$$ and cai will void warranty, and as far as take offs, i get passed aot...i make sure i keep it under 2k rpm and oh yea gas......i mainly use a keiths station here in town and i only use mid grade 91 and there is not an e85 anywhere near me........thanks

Did you recalibrate your speedo after switching tire sizes? That could be good for a couple MPG.

For some reason, which I am not complaining about, my mileage this past tank jump to 16.55 mpg mixed city/highway. And about 70 miles on the tank I had 2000lbs in the bed, usually in mixed driving I see around 15mpg. Which even at 15 I am happy with figureing the way that I drive, usually taking off from stops it sees 3000-4000 rpms, and then the bigger tires and heavier wheels.

Good luck...

went from 14 to 16.5 with the edge evo. Recalibrated my odometer with the tire size parameter.

actually, what you're doing wrong is expecting decent gas mileage in a full size truck.

Why are you using 91 midgrade? Don't - save your money.

You are trying to save money, aren't you? It just seems silly that you want better mileage but are paying more for octane you can't use...
