Some of the later year Maxima's had similar problems with it's variable intake, only they typically ingested the screws and some mounting hardware and killed the engine. Obviously yours is not a mechanical failure, but rather a tech problem. Anyway, talk about a nightmare...

removing the charge motion control plates adds 7 rwhp to any 3v. there used to be a running debate over this, but the documentation is there.

take a 2.25 inch cross section intake and block it with a stamped steel plate with a 1/8" square operating rod and you have a restriction.

if you remove it and silicone the passages it REQUIRES a tune to compensate for low velocity part throttle driving. but the tunes are out there. it will coat you a few hours and a $3.00 can of silicone. for 7 rwhp. that's cheap.

i'm an auto just like you guys. 3.90 gears. i have near the same losses as any 2wd truck. 250rwhp and 340rwtq without the benefit of any of your intakes or tunes.

that's with stock duals, x pipe, 160 t-stadt, and cmc deletes. no tune. stock 4.6 2v PCM settings. so you tell me. my ignition timimg is wrong for 3v, my mixture is close but goes rich at 4200. and i still got 250rwhp/340 rwtq. throw the cmc's back in a i join the rest with 330ish wrtq.

anyway it's a $4.00 7rwhp/tq mod. and adjust the part throttles. go to the 3v section of modularfords.com
