Factory satelite radio question

I just picked up my 07' FX4 Scab Monday and it came with the factory sirius from the stock head unit, and 6 month subsrciption. The radio was on and working when I picked the truck up. So my question is did the dealer activate it? How do I know what my acount# is at Sirius so I can listen online at work as well?

I say let it go and see how long it stays on...my '06 Jetta had a 3 month trial that ended 3 months ago...still working w/no bills..

Or you can just call Sirius and explain that you just bought it, and that your 6 months should start now..

Have your paperwork (VIN#) ready and call Sirius. They will tell you when the account was activated. You will also be able to have them give you a temp user name and password to listen online. If you read your owner's manual, it will also tell you all this same information about activation. You could also wait a month or so and Sirius will send you a notice with your account number and a phone number to call them. The notice is a special discount for an additional 6, 12, or 18 months of service.

It is set up to go a little while on preview service. It will go out in about a day or two.. I think mine was two days! You will need to call the 1-800 # in the infomation you got, and go to the truck to get the number from the unit. Use your cordless phone or cell phone! They will tell you how to do it, basically hold down two buttons. It takes about 5 minutes and it is activated! If you have the free 6 months, you will still need to get it activated!

Enjoy it! I think it is great, and I just renewed my subscription!

In the F-150's, the Sirius head units are pre-activated from the factory. This is for the purpose of demonstrating how it works to a customer. Once the vehicle is reported as sold by your dealer, the subscription is activated in your name, and will last for 6 months. To get your ESN, I believe you press the 1 and seek buttons simultaneously and it should show on the display. I am a former Ford/Lincoln/Mercury salesperson, btw.

I called sirius when I first got my truck. The customer service person stated that I would need a full subscription to listen online. I didnt push the issue....maybe I'll try again.

FYI the number to call is 1-888-539-7474, they have an option when you call to press a number if it was factory installed in the vehicle

I just called the 1-800 to activate the playboy channel (198). I didn't know my esn or whatever its called, so they just searched for it by the VIN number. Then he gave me my account # and password so I can listen online.

Goes to show some of the abilities and knowledge of Ford/Lincoln/Mercury salespeople! I just wish they had more knowledge on the stuff they sell, rather than how much they will earn! Unforntunately you have given some mis-information regarding the subscription! Yes it is activated for demonstrations (which most sales people need training on), but once it is recorded as sold it is a little more difficult than what you have told! You will have to call Siruis, get the ESN number, and give them all kinds of info, wait some time and it will be activated for the 6 months...... I am a former caller to get the six month trial period caller btw..... It is simple but not as simple as the salespeople want you to think it is! If they only knew!

Mine was already activated when I picked it up from the dealer, I never had to call Sirius or do anything. At about the 8 month mark it stopped playing so I called and signed up for another 2 years. Doesn't get much simpler than that.

You can call Sirius any time and they will credit any of the 6 months time to your account you dont have to wait for it to expire.
