Poll: Daytime Running Lights, Yea, Nay?
You said it best in the thread you linked in your opening post -
As for those complaining about them looking "stupid" for whatever reason, well, like Chris Rock once said in a standup piece: "I'd rather look guilty at the mall than innocent in jail."
Read: I'd rather look like a **** on the road than roadkill by the roadside.
A definite YES for me!

It's not like it affects the performance of the vehicle and it's been demonstrated that it increases the visibility of the vehicle exponentially, thus making the road a safer place for everyone to drive.

DRL's also take away from the cool factor as you can't cruise around with your park lights on at dusk or dawn as the head lights would be on as well so there would be no more cool factor.

There is no point in having these because if you cant see a big *** truck coming towards you in plain day than you shouldnt be driving in the first place! Not to mention that they are very low wattage bulbs so I cant see how they would help. I dont know about you guys but almost every GM truck I see has one of the DRL's burnt out too.
I say yeah. Far too many idiots driving around in heavy rain, fog or near dark conditions without their headlights on. Someone posted that they never heard someone stating "DRL's saved my life", how would you even know? Its not like the other motorist is going to catch up to you just to say that he saw you because you had your lights on. There is an obvious reason motorcycles have them so why not all motor vehicles? Not everybody has perfect vision.

Let me paint this picture for ya. Motorcyclist have them so they can be seen at a glance. Emergency vehicles have them so they can be noticed from afar. They have those flashing lights ya know. Probably the same arguments when airbags became standard equipment.

Yea! I would like to have them and I am looking into installing them on my truck, it would save me the extra hassel to turn the ****. But I wonder if it is just a plug and play thing if I buy it from Ford or if you have to wire it all up.
I say no. I agree if you can't see a truck, motorcycle, car, school bus, EMT's, etc you shouldn't be driving. If you're driving in fog, rain, snow or some other low visibilty situation then turn on your lights. School buses and garbage trucks around here now have flashing strobes on them, what's next? Hang up the phone, pay attention and drive smart. Now we got Volvos running around tellin people HEY KNUCKLEHEAD hit the brakes or you're gonna rear end someone and cars that park themselves, where's it end?
Make it idiot proof and you help build better idiots.
