What Oil and Filter are you using
Oil and FL-400S
The MC FL-400S has a silicone anti drain back valve, and is a good value. I use any SL or SM 10W30 name brand oil. Prefer Trop Artic or Havoline most often. Change engine oil at 5000K miles no problem going longer. Truck is just a suburban commuter, and light hauler. Your ATF and anti-freeze are more important than your engine oil as far as your truck enjoying a long life. Change them at 30K and 50K respectivly.

I don't personally use Fram on anything just because, but we've got an 86 Bronco II (recently switched over to Amsoil BTW
) that's practically just used Fram filters and the 'cheapest brand name dino oil you can find off the shelf on sale' for the last 20 some years and it's never had any problems relating to the motor oil or the filter brand. It doesn't get driven much either. Granted, it's not a Modular V8.
It's all in how you use and take care of everything, there's only X amount of manufacturers that make these filters for companies.

I've been using Mobil 1 5W-30 and Motorcraft Filters with no problems. I do the change every 3K - 4K depending on my driving conditions.
Just to note though, I've been using the Pennzoil Platinum in my wife's car, and it's been outstanding, so I think I'm going to give it a try in my truck next oil change.

Sorry, but I’m not buy’n it.
I’ve been racing for quite some time. Experience has proven that a 1-3HP increase in a 10second car is barley perceptible. 1-3hp in a 5000lb+ truck…..uhm no! You THINK there’s a difference due to the advertising deception. It is impossible for even the likes of John Force to perceive a few HP difference in a vehicle that tips the scales at well over 5000lbs!Anyway, stick with the basics, Motorcraft 5W20 and Motorcraft Filter. That extra cash for a few HP is a huge waste of $$ considering it has to be replaced periodically.
I buy the 5-Qt jug at Wally Hell. Although, I've recently found a parts distributor here in town that was slightly cheaper than Wally Hell. Off the top of my head, though, I don't remember the pricing.

I don't use the Synthetic oils and premo oil filters to gain any hp, I just wanted the best for my truck. I have seen the difference that using synthetic oils can make. Considering that I only put 10,000 miles on my truck in a year I'm not worried about the cost when I change it 2x's a year because the way i see it is that if I were using the cheaper oils I would then be changing my oil more frequently (every 3,000) and spending either the same or more.

Hey Dudes, Phillips 66 trop artic 5W20 is specially blended for fords. Conocophillips has the contract to make Ford motorcraft oil. It is the same thing as motorcraft, maybe even a little better. It is around $1.89 a quart at walmart and atwoods. I have always had very good results with it and motorcraft filters.
I just use the synthetic since my automobiles seem to run smoother. Plus, its better to use less oil so I can contribute to less oil being used up from other places on earth. I should have bought a FFV truck. Too bad. I put a Fumoto vavle in also. Should be easy to change my oil from now on.

As far as dumping the oil once a year, I started off with XL 5w20 which is a 6month/ 7500 mile extended mileage syn blend oil. Now using the full synthetic 5w30 (don't bother telling me it's not right) which is a 1yr/25K oil. I'm sure after a year I could have it tested and keep going, again piece of mind is fine with that.
Bottom line, I'm perfectly fine with supporting Amsoil over the multi billion dollar profit corporations. This is entirely my opinion, there's a few others I don't agree with in this post, but to each his own.

Amsoil has their 0W-20 out now, something to look into.
Amsoil filters are made to the manufacturers specs;
This is straight off Amsoils website;
