I know this because it happend to me two weeks ago. You can't prevent everything from happening and my reply to yours originally was to show that you said it could have been avoided, true, but unrealistic to say that you can be prepared for everything. Sometimes **** happens and that is the way it is. I just thought you being a smart @ss was not helping the original problem. So I decided to make you hear it. Get over it. I'm sure he felt bad enough for not folding it in to begin with, but you telling him is not helping him answer his question.
Show me where in any of my posts, I said to fold your mirrors every time you park. I said I do it everyday at work because if I don't sooner or later a semi will take it off, just makes sense to do it. You tell me to get over it when your the one making an issue of it. I know I'll sleep better tonight knowing your on guard protecting these forums from smart-a$$es like me.

this is not true...it all depends on the package you have.....i "think" if you have heated seats then you will have an extra button for the mirrors. i dont have the heated seats and mine come on with the rear defrost. there is not an extra button.......so if the heated mirrors are like the keypad on the doors, the wire should be there and just need to be hooked up....do like somone earlier said and take it off and see if the wires are there.......

<---- This was me last night. I started out knocking a few back while I grilled some steaks for the first time on my brand new grill. The evening was nice and the beer was flowing. Next thing I know I'm digging in the cooler for the last beer with all the paint scratched off and talking smack on the internet. Sad really. I could have let it go but you all know what happens when your drinking. Maybe I need an intervention...

Hi. Package-dependent. No heated seats here, no rear defrost. I have the extra button, obviously.

Also - there is a timer - shuts off after a while on it's own.

Cheers

You are right, folding my mirror could have avoided the issue. I had decided to leave it out on purpose. My thought process was that if I folded it in, a person driving by might come a bit too close to my truck and side swipe it. I figured the mirror would create several extra inches of buffer in case they got too close. (you know, have them gauge their space using my mirror vs. the body of the truck) I guess it worked, but will still cost me a few hundred bucks

I should have used the 4WD and drove up on top of the snow bank (about 10 feet tall)

Does anyone know where I can find a "take apart" manual to see if the wire is there for the heated mirror's? I'm guessing the inside paneling needs to be removed on the door, but I don't want to break anything guessing. I'm also wondering if there is some sort of gasket that needs to be replaced to keep water from getting into the door.

I have the defrost button, but do not have defrost on the year window (I have the auto slide on the year window). It goes off with a timer, but doesn't do anything other than that currently.

Thanks for the posts. You guys crack me up.

I hate to say this but... I had to go to a bid reading meeting in Wichita Falls today. So I get to the Country Clerk's office and I had to park on the street that wasn't all that wide. I folded in my driver's side mirror JUST BECAUSE of this thread. If you can't beat em join em right? Now I'm gonna get flamed for talking smack (you all know why now) and then folding the stupid mirror.

T-Bird---I'm not saying your right, I'm just saying you made me think about it today when I parked on the street.

I was going to let you have the last word on our little "debate", then you posted this. I just raised the point then it took off from there. It's just something I pay attention to because of the places I have to park. The only time I don't give a second thought about my truck is when it's home safe in the garage.

BTW no hard feelings, now go finish breaking in that new grill.
